This is a report on the translation of Personal Information Protection Act(British Columbia,Canada),enacted and issued by Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in 2003,which is a law regulating and stipulating everything about personal information protection.This translation report describes the translation project and the quality control in the translation process,analyzes the stylistic features of the source text,and sums up the typical problems arising in the translation of the text: the translation of terms,the translation of long sentences and the translation of passive voice.This report tries to show how the author has used various translation skills to solve these problems.In the translation process of long sentences,the skills of linear translation,reversion,splitting and synthesizing are used.For term translation,the skills of equivalent translation,literal translation and free translation are used.In the translation process of passive voice,the skills of translating into active voice and translating into passive voice are used.These problems may also be frequently encountered by other translators in the field of legal translation.So the solutions proposed in this report may provide reference for them and help them improve their translation quality.
