Taken from Digital Scholarship in the Humanities,Issue 4,2020,the article is a scientific text which is titled “Author Identification of Short Texts Using Dependency Treebanks without Vocabulary”.According to its linguistic features, the problems encountered in the translation have been analyzed at three levels: word, sentence, and chapter. In terms of the normalization structures, they are translated into subjectverb/verb-objective structures or split into clauses;for the passive voice,a main feature of scientific texts, three translation methods are mostly adopted: adding a subject, translating it into a non-subject clause, and translating it into a passive sentence in Chinese;what’s more,as scientific texts stress on logic, the translator reveals the logical relationships by logical semantic explication and logical explication. It is hoped that this practice can enrich the results of the translation study of scientific texts, providing a reference for other practices in future and improving their quality.
