| In recent years,more and more foreign tourists have chosen to visit the Jilin region in the northeast for sightseeing.As an important medium for tourists to get to know and understand the local scenery,the scientific English translation of tour guide presentation can attract more foreign tourists to visit Jilin and promote the local tourism economy.The source text of this translation practice is Chapter 2 of Tour Around Beautiful Jilin,which belongs to the category of tourism texts and has strong characteristics of explanation and guidance and the content is mainly an introduction to famous attractions such as Jilin Songhua Lake,Rime Island,Red Leaf Valley and so on.Guided by the Skopos Theory,the report carefully analyzes and summarizes the translation practice from three levels of vocabulary,sentences and chapters.At the lexical level,the translators use omission,annotation and so on to translate four-character superposition,featured attraction names and cuisine names’ words and so on;at the sentence level,the translators use interpretation,combination and so on to solve the problems of quoted verses,run-on sentences and so on;at the discourse level,the translators mainly use discourse cohesion words manifestation and the structural adjustment of discourse to improve chapter translation.In the process of practice,the translator adopts the research method of case study,and applies the principles of purpose,coherence and fidelity in the Skopos Theory to the translation practice of tourism texts to build a communicative link between the translator,the reader and the text,and to realize the harmonization of source text and target text.The purpose of this translation practice is to further explore the application value and guiding significance of the Skopos Theory in the translation of tourism texts,to promote the English translation of scenic tour guide presentation in Jilin region,and to provide useful references for the English translation practice of tourism texts. |
