Loneliness is a negative emotional experience,which will affect the mental health level of high school students.Most of the existing researches take loneliness as a mediator variable,but few researches take loneliness as a core variable and explore its causes in many aspects.Objective: This study mainly explores the predictive effects of family function,interpersonal trust and friendship quality on loneliness,verifies the chain mediating effects of interpersonal trust and friendship quality,and provides educational suggestions to help high school students reduce loneliness.Methods: In this study,a total of 871 high school students from two high schools in Harbin,Heilongjiang Province and Changchun,Jilin Province were investigated by using the Family Function Rating Scale,Interpersonal Trust Scale,Friendship Quality Questionnaire and Adolescent Loneliness Scale.Research results:1.The family functions of senior high school students are generally above the average level,and there are significant differences in demographic variables such as gender,place of residence and whether the family is the only child.There are grade differences in the overall functional dimension.High school students’ interpersonal trust is above the average level,and there are significant differences in gender,place of residence,whether the only child or not,and grade.The friendship quality of senior high school students is above the average level,with significant differences in demographic variables.The loneliness of senior high school students is above the average level,and there are significant differences in gender,place of residence and whether they are the only child,but there is no significant difference in grade.2.Family function,interpersonal trust,friendship quality and loneliness of high school students are significantly correlated.Family function was positively correlated with interpersonal trust,positively correlated with friendship quality,and negatively correlated with loneliness.Interpersonal trust was positively correlated with friendship quality,but negatively correlated with loneliness.Friendship quality was negatively correlated with loneliness;Loneliness was negatively correlated with family functioning,interpersonal trust and friendship quality.3.The mediating effect test shows that family function affects high school students’ loneliness through three ways: first,interpersonal trust is the sole mediating effect;Second,the sole mediating effect of friendship quality;The third is the chain mediating effect of interpersonal trust and friendship quality.Conclusion: Family function not only affects the quality of interpersonal trust and friendship,but also affects the level of loneliness of high school students through the quality of interpersonal trust and friendship.Therefore,it is possible to improve the family function of high school students,help them better establish interpersonal trust,improve the quality of friendship,and thus reduce loneliness.
