A Practice Report On The English Translation Of One Hundred Issues Of Carbon Peak And Carbon Neutrality(Chapter Three)

“Carbon peak,carbon neutralization” is a national strategy for the economic and social development and the construction of ecological civilization.“One Hundred Issues of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality”(chapter 3)is a question-and-answer format aimed at raising the awareness of the whole society on carbon neutrality and carbon neutrality,and providing help to better promote the implementation of the goals.The book is divided into four parts.The third chapter introduces the policy actions to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality,emphasizes the need for a comprehensive transformation of the social economy,discusses how to transform various sectors,and what challenges and opportunities this transformation will face.This report is based on the translation of “One Hundred Issues of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality”(Chapter 3),hoping to improve China’s discourse communication and discourse power in the world.Employing Functional Equivalence Theory as a guiding theory for the translation,the report presents case analysis of textual content from the perspectives of lexis,syntax and discourse to enhance the mastery of translation strategies,translation methods and translation techniques,with the aim of achieving theoretical guidance for practice.From lexical level,the translator adopts the addition of pronouns to concrete the reference and the conversion to emphasis the core content;From the syntactic level,the translator changes the voice for objectivity and divides the long sentence into pieces for clarity;From the discourse level,the translator achieves logic cohesion for connections of sentences and paragraphs and semantic coherence for the fluency of discourse.However,the integration of the translation and practical application of “One Hundred Issues of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality”(Chapter 3)can effectively exert the guiding value of functional translation,improve the efficiency and quality of English translation,and play an irreplaceable role in the exploration and development of Chinese translation theories.Combining with the content of translation theory,this paper analyzes the feasibility and application of translating policy texts,and puts forward corresponding practical strategies.The aim of this report is to raise the global awareness of carbon peak and carbon neutrality,and to spread China’s solutions and wisdom,so as to better promote the work of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.At the same time,it is expected to provide effective reference for the research of relevant texts in the future.
