The Effect Of Attachment Style Of University Students On Depression:The Mediating Role Of Emotion Regulation Difficulties And Loneliness | | Posted on:2024-02-01 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Z J Li | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555306941999629 | Subject:Applied Psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | At present,depression has become the second major disease endangering human health.Depression affects people’s interpersonal relationships,quality of life,work and learning ability,and endangers people’s mental health.How to prevent depression scientifically and effectively is an important issue of concern worldwide.Studies have found that insecure attachment is one of the main causes of depression.The relationship between attachment style and depression has always been a research hotspot at home and abroad.At present,there is no research on the relationship between attachment style,difficulty in emotion regulation,loneliness and depression.College students are in the key stage of social role transformation,facing interpersonal relationship,family relationship,academic and employment pressure.During the normal management of the new coronavirus epidemic,interpersonal interaction is generally reduced,loneliness experience is enhanced,and depression is more likely to occur.Therefore,it is of profound theoretical value and practical significance to study the prevention of college students’ depression.The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between attachment style,emotional regulation difficulty,loneliness and depression,and to further verify the mechanism of emotional regulation difficulty and loneliness in the relationship between attachment style and depression,so as to provide theoretical basis for clinical intervention.This study adopts the method of questionnaire survey,the survey object is 520 college students.Experience in Closed Relationship(ECR),the Brief Emotional Regulation Difficulties Scale(DESR-16),the State and Trait Loneliness Scale(SVTLS),and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)were used to analyze the data.Statistical software SPSS26.0 and AMOS22.0 were used to analyze the data.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Attachment style,difficulty in emotional regulation,loneliness and depression had significant differences in some demographic variables.(2)There was a significant positive correlation between attachment style and depression,between attachment style and difficulty in regulating emotions,between attachment style and loneliness,and between difficulty in regulating emotions and loneliness;There was a significant positive correlation between difficulty in emotional regulation and depression,and a significant positive correlation between loneliness and depression.(3)Attachment style had a significant positive prediction effect on depression,attachment style had a significant positive prediction effect on emotional regulation difficulties,attachment style had a significant positive prediction effect on loneliness,emotional regulation difficulties had a significant positive prediction effect on loneliness,emotional regulation difficulties had a significant positive prediction effect on depression,loneliness had a significant positive prediction effect on depression.(4)Difficulty regulating emotions partially mediates the relationship between attachment style and depression,state loneliness partially mediates the relationship between attachment style and depression,trait loneliness completely mediates the relationship between attachment avoidance and depression,and trait loneliness partially mediates the relationship between attachment anxiety and depression.(5)Difficulty in emotional regulation and state loneliness played a partial chain mediating role in the relationship between attachment style and depression.Difficulties in emotional regulation and trait loneliness played a complete chain mediating role in the relationship between attachment style and depression.The results suggest that attachment style can not only directly affect depression,but also jointly affect depression through difficulties in emotional regulation and loneliness.This study discusses the influence of attachment style on depression from two perspectives of emotion regulation difficulty and loneliness,state loneliness and trait,which has strong practical significance.This study has enriched the theoretical research to a certain extent,which is helpful to prevent college students from depression,improve their emotional regulation ability and mental health level,and provide a theoretical basis for college psychological counseling. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Attachment style, Difficulty in emotional regulation, Loneliness, Depression, College students | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
