| With the deepening of globalization,English listening and speaking competence gains more attention of the whole society.The English listening and speaking test to the Senior High School Entrance Exam of Shanghai in 2021 has also put forward new requirements for English teaching.The Communicative Language Teaching emerged in England in 20th century and was introduced into China in the 1970s,which has had a great impact on English teaching in China.In this study,junior high school students who already have certain English language foundation were selected to participate in an empirical study which consists of teaching experiments,questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students to discuss the following three questions:1.Is it feasible to apply Communicative Language Teaching to English listening and speaking teaching in junior high school?2.Can Communicative Language Teaching improve students’English listening and speaking competence?3.What are the feasible methods and strategies to apply Communicative Language Teaching to English listening and speaking teaching in junior high school?The author conducted a one-semester comparative experiment between the experimental class and the control class,and analyzed the questionnaire and the test scores of the students in both classes through SPSS24 software to verify the effectiveness of applying Communicative Language Teaching to English listening and speaking teaching in junior high school.The results of the experiment showed that the students in the experimental class had a great improvement in their English listening and speaking scores after one semester.Their scores were significantly higher than those of the students in the control class.Therefore,the author believes that Communicative Language Teaching can be applied to English listening and speaking teaching in junior high school,and can benefit students’English listening and speaking competence greatly. |
