| With the development of economic globalization,China’s foreign trade activities have become increasingly frequent,which has promoted closer cooperations between China and other countries.As a legal document,contract plays an indispensable role in business activities.Due to its preciseness and professionalism,the translation quality of the contract texts is directly related to the economic interests and rights of both parties.In order to prevent and reduce the disputes caused by the contract translation,the translator should keep the quality control of the target text.Taking Engineering Service Agreement as the source text,combining the background,language features and translation requirements of the source text and adopting semantic translation and communicative translation,the author analyzes the specific cases from lexical level,syntactic level and textual level to put forward the appropriate translation strategies effectively and provide some references for translators in the field of contract texts translation.In this report,the author,under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology theory,analyzes the general characteristics of contract texts and the language style of the source text and adopts different translation according to the specific requirements of the texts: terminologies and fixed collocations should adopt semantic translation to achieve the fidelity of the translation;non-subject sentences,complex and long sentences and text cohesion should be combined with semantic translation and communicative translation according to the specific context to achieve the overall logic and coherence of the target text.The research shows that Newmark’s text typology theory plays a significant role in guiding C-E translation of contract texts.Based on text typology theory,the author chooses corresponding translation strategies to solve the problems effectively in translation to improve the translation quality,expecting to give valuable references to the translation of similar texts. |
