| Due to the continuous enhancement of the greenhouse effect and the increasingly prominent problem of global warming,a series of environmental problems derived from it not only endanger human life and health, but also affect the long-term economic and social development. In order to better address climate change,China has also proposed its own carbon peaking and carbon neutrality target, that is,to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.Professor He Kebin of the School of the Environment of Tsinghua University delivered a speech entitled "Carbon Neutrality – the Change in the Future" at the "Humanities Tsinghua" forum, which introduced the role of the carbon market in promoting carbon emission reduction, the global action of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and the difficulties and solutions on China’s road to achieving emission reduction tasks. At the same time,he pointed out that the impact of carbon neutrality on China’s economic and social development is very large, which may be another major event since the start of reform and opening up forty years ago,and the goal of achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality will be a comprehensive and thorough economic and social systemic change. This is an interpretation practice report based on the lecture of "Carbon Neutrality– the Change in the Future",which was simultaneously interpreted by the interpreter. In the process of interpreting, the interpreter used Gile’s Effort Model, and Gile believed that the simultaneous interpretation included three basic tasks, namely listening and analysis effort,short-term memory effort and speech production effort, and required the rational use of coordination effort to complete the above three basic tasks. The lecture covers a large number of technical terms in the field of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and contains some of the latest theoretical and practical achievements, which posed some difficulties for the interpreter.According to the Effort Model,Gile believes that the mental energy required to complete the interpretation task is limited,so the limited mental energy needs to be properly allocated to complete the basic tasks. The report is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the background and features of the interpretation task;the second part shows the whole process of interpreting, including pre-interpreting preparation, interpreting process and postinterpreting quality control;the third part introduces Gile’s Effort Model and its application in simultaneous interpretation, and reflects on the problems arising from the practical application of this interpretation theory and proposes solutions;the fourth part is a summary of the interpretation practice report so as to guide future interpretation tasks. |
