A Report On The Translation Of Guidance For The Implementation Of Carbon Peaking And Carbon Neutrality (Chapter 2-3)

Carbon peaking and carbon neutrality serve as the significant strategic goals of China,and the important commitments to the world.The source text Guidance for the Implementation of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality(chapter 2-3)published by Chemical Industry Press in October 2021,was translated under the guidance of Systemic Functional Linguistics(SFL)Metafunctions theory.An in-depth analysis shows characteristics of the source text,such as multiple terms at lexical level,density information and tight structure at syntactic level,and cohesive devices at textual level.Based on cases analyses,the report focuses on the language characteristics and functions of the source text.By means of transitivity system,mood and modality system,thematic structure,information organization and cohesive devices,it gives priority to the language functions between the source text and target text.Based on the analysis and the practice,this report found the unique advantages of sentimental analysis in mental process at the ideational level,which can be divided into positive sentiment,negative sentiment,and neutral sentiment to infer the sentiments of the source texts.Combined with typical cases,this report manifests the interpersonal functions between source texts and target texts,illustrating the attitudes and judgements of the source texts.In addition,it focuses on the accuracy and fluency on the language level with the concept of textual function.Based on translation practice,this report aims to provide some references for those who seek to understand and translate energy English under the guidance of systemic functional linguistics theory.
