| This is a simulated consecutive interpreting practice report.The author chose the first half of the 2021 Cultural Summit Forum on Beijing Western Hill and Yongding River as the material and made Chinese-English consecutive interpretation for it.On September 26th,2021,the forum was successfully held in the Shougang Park of Beijing,during which academic speeches and discussions were carried out.Scholars and experts shared their experience and opinions on topics related to the Western Hill and Yongding River Cultural Belt,such as ecological environment restoration,water project heritage protection,historical and cultural heritage exploitation,green industry development,etc.Guided by the UMEER framework proposed by Professor Li Changshuan,this report reviews and reflects on the transcription of the interpretation recording,analyzing representative examples from the perspectives of understanding,memorizing,expression and emergency response.Then the strength and weakness of the interpreter in the practice are summed up,and suggestions are made for the improvement in interpreting.This report consists of five chapters.Chapter one introduces background information,speakers of the interpretation task,reasons for choosing this material,and purpose and significance of this report.Chapter two reviews the main stages of the practice,including interpreting preparation,interpreting process and post-interpreting review.Chapter three introduces the content of the UMEER framework.The fourth chapter is the case study based on the UMEER framework,in which the author analyzes her interpretation from three aspects of each perspective under the framework with both successful and failed cases.For those with problems,the author attempts to find the causes,so as to give suggestions for improvement.Chapter five is the conclusion part.Based on case analysis and her interpreting experience in the process,the author summarizes the gains and limitations in the practice,and brings up empirical suggestions that will help to guide her interpretation practice in the future.Through this simulated interpretation practice,the author has a deeper understanding of the whole process of an interpretation project,and has a more comprehensive evaluation of her interpreting performance under the guidance of the UMEER framework. |
