| Life satisfaction is an individual’s overall and stable cognitive assessment of their integral or certain aspect of life based on internal standards,it is an important and core indicator to measure the mental health of college students.Parental psychological control is a verbal or nonverbal way used by parents to control their children’s emotions,thoughts and parenthood relationship.Previous studies on parental psychological control have mostly focused on children and adolescents.According to recent research results,parental psychological control continues to exist in college.As an external environmental factor,it will have a negative impact on college students’ life satisfaction.Parental psychological control will also have a influence on the internal factors of college students,For example,it can lead to low self-esteem and mental resilience.Self-esteem and resilience are important predictors of college students’ life satisfaction.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to investigate the influence mechanism of parental psychological control on the life satisfaction of college students,and to include self-esteem and psychological resilience as mediating variables.In this study,741 college students from two universities in Kunming,Yunnan and Weifang,Shandong were investigated with the Chinese version of the Parental Psychological Control Questionnaire,Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale,Psychological Resilience Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale.Collect survey data and analyze it.there are 329 freshmen,198 sophomores,131 junior students and 83 senior students.There are 337 boys and 404 girls.The average age of subjects is 19.96 ± 1.26.The results are as follows:(1)The perceived parental psychological control of college students is generally lower than the middle level,and there are significant differences in gender,family atmosphere,family subjective economic status,and maternal educational level.(2)The self-esteem of college students is generally above the middle level,and there are significant differences in ethnic group,professional type,family structure,family atmosphere,family subjective economic status,and frequency of contact with parents.(3)The psychological resilience of college students is generally at the upper middle level,and there are significant differences in ethnic group,census register,family structure,family atmosphere,family subjective economic status,maternal education level,and the frequency of contact with parents.(4)College students’ life satisfaction is generally above the middle level,and there are significant differences in family atmosphere,family subjective economic status,and the frequency of contact with parents.(5)The parental psychological control of college students is significantly negatively correlated with self-esteem,resilience and life satisfaction;There is a significant positive correlation among self-esteem,resilience and life satisfaction.(6)Self-esteem and resilience play a separate mediating effect between parental psychological control and life satisfaction,while self-esteem and resilience play a chain mediating effect between parental psychological control and life satisfaction. |
