This is a translation report on an English-to-Chinese translation practice of Chapters 30 and 31 of the medical book Fix IT: See and Solve the Problems of Digital Healthcare, which describes the problems of digital healthcare, the corresponding solutions, and the better future of digital healthcare. There are three remarkable linguistic features of the work: the prevailing use of parentheses among the text for explanatory purposes;a large number of proper nouns for names of institutions, organizations and brands;the frequent appearance of the ironic tone for emphasis or humorous effect. These three features become the translation difficulties of this project. The report takes the theory of adaptation as the theoretical guide, providing an in-depth analysis of the above difficulties.Under the guidance of the contextual adaptation and structural adaptation, the translation practice is accomplished from a more comprehensive perspective. When it comes to the translation of parentheses, the amplification, punctuation marks shift and inversion are adopted;free translation, using existing versions,zero-translation and transliteration plus annotation are used in the translation of the proper nouns;when representing the ironic tone, the translator adopts the use of idioms and negation.
