This practice report is based on the simultaneous interpreting of two lean webinars held by Gemba Academy from North America,named “10 Lessons from Practicing Toyota Kata” and “Accountability Through Visual Management”respectively.In the webinars,two famous lean experts Michael Lombard and Steve Kane were invited as speakers,with the purpose of introducing the concepts of the Toyota Kata method and the visual management accountability method in the lean concept and their specific applications in both work and life.This practice report summarizes and analyzes the problem of visualized information and corresponding interpreting strategies in the form of case study.In the webinars,visualized information can be divided into fuzzy visualized information,coherent visualized information and redundant visualized information.According to the different characteristics of visualized information,the interpreter has adopted different strategies such as waiting,explanation and prediction,etc.,and applied different methods such as addition,omission and revision to accurately convey the intention of the source language,maximizing the integrity of the information for the reception of the audience.This practice report analyzes the characteristics of the visualized information and summarizes its coping strategies and methods in simultaneous interpreting.Hopefully,it will inspire other interpreters and provide reference for online conference interpreting.
