Driven by positive psychology, subjective well-being has become a hot topic to which researchers continue to pay attention. The existing researches mainly focus on adults and the elderly, and there is few researches on the middle school students’ subjective well-being,who have their unique development characteristics and life experiences. Therefore,it is very important to explore the subjective well-being of middle school students deeply. The researches have shown that original family has an important influence on middle school students’ subjective well-being,but the marital conflict in the family is inevitable. If parents fail to detect or handle it improperly,it is easy to "spill over" the negative emotions in the marital conflict into the parent-child relationship to form a parent-child triangulation, which challenges middle school students’ subjective well-being.And the influence of parent-child triangulation on individuals changes with social culture,so it is necessary to explore the influence of parent-child triangulation on middle school students’ subjective well-being under the background of localization.Previous studies have shown that the parent-child triangulation will affect the individual’s self-esteem and coping style, and this influence varies with the different dimensions of the parent-child triangle relationship. At the same time,self-esteem and coping style are two important factors of subjective well-being.Therefore,the current study explores the influence of parent-child triangulation on subjective well-being of middle school students, and whether self-esteem and coping style play the mediating roles between parent-child triangulation and subjective well-being,so as to clarify the influence mechanism of parent-child triangulation on subjective well-being and provide theoretical guidance for improving subjective well-being of middle school students. In this study,949 middle school students were investigated with the Parent-child Triangulation Questionnaire,Subjective Well-being Index Scale,Self-esteem Scale and Simple Coping Style Questionnaire. After analysis, the following research results were obtained:(1)The level of parent-child triangulation of middle school students was below the average, the levels of their self-esteem and subjective well-being were high, their coping style tendency was not obvious;(2)There were significant differences in middle school students’ parent-child triangulation in grade, gender, family structure, father’s education level and parents’ quarrel frequency, and there were significant differences in middle school students’ selfesteem in gender and parents’ quarrel frequency, besides, there were significant differences in middle school students’ coping style in grade and parents’ quarrel frequency, what’s more, there was a significant difference in middle school students’ subjective wellbeing in parents’ quarrel frequency;(3)Each dimension of parent-child triangulation was significantly correlated with subjective well-being.Specifically,children’s feelings and parents’ performance were negatively correlated with subjective well-being,while children’s performance was positively correlated with subjective well-being;(4)Each dimension of parent-child triangulation was significantly correlated with self-esteem.Specifically,children’s feelings and parents’ performance were negatively correlated with self-esteem,while children’s performance was positively correlated with self-esteem;(5)In the parent-child triangle relationship, children’s performance and parents’ performance were significantly correlated with coping style.Specifically, children’s performance was positively correlated with coping style, while parents’ performance was negatively correlated with coping style;(6)Children’s feelings and parents’ performance negatively predicted subjective well-being,while children’s performance,self-esteem and coping style positively predicted subjective well-being;(7)Children’s feelings affected subjective well-being through the complete mediating role of self-esteem,and children’s performance affected subjective well-being through the partial mediating role of coping style, moreover, parents’ performance affected subjective well-being through the parallel mediating roles of self-esteem and coping style; At present,it is found that in the influence of parent-child triangulation on subjective well-being,self-esteem and coping style play mediating roles in different forms, which provides a new perspective for intervening and improving the subjective well-being of middle school students.According to the current research and the existing researches, the following educational suggestions were proposed: parents should create a harmonious and stable family system and be alert to the intergenerational impact of marital conflict;schools should strengthen psychological counseling to enhance the subjective well-being of middle school students;middle school students should avoid falling into parent-child triangulation actively and master positive coping styles.
