A Study On The Role Of Self-organization In The Socialization Transformation Of Danwei Community

The study of Danwei is one of the fundamental issues of sociological research in China.In the past,the government managed the community through the unit,the ownership of resources was in the government,and there was a dependency relationship between the members and the government.With the diversification of distribution mechanisms and the development of resource substitution,the unit is no longer an irreplaceable dependency for the survival and development of social members,which requires the transformation of community governance from unitbased management to modern community governance.Walder’s neo-traditionalist theory reveals the mechanism of unit operation in terms of both organizational attachment and institutional culture.Revisiting the neo-traditionalist theory and examining the process of social transformation of danwei communities and the unique logic presented at different historical stages is an important entry point for understanding the institutional change and national governance transformation in China.The development of self-organization in communities also reflects the process of danwei community transformation.During the period of danwei system,selforganization was invisible in daily life in an informal form and passively responded to community governance.At the beginning of the community system,the community committee,as a grassroots autonomous organization,carried the function of administrative public services,and other self-organizations had no formal organizational form.In the new era of grassroots governance,selforganizations emerged and took the initiative to play a role.During this period,multiple subjects participated in collaborative governance,public service selforganizations gradually shared community functions which weakened economic and social dependency,and hobby-based self-organizations developed to further cultivate a sense of community community.The study finds that community self-organization takes different forms at different historical stages and constitutes a vehicle for the socialization transformation of danwei communities.In the action of self-organization,the state is embedded in the community,and public service self-organization realizes topdown power operation by playing an administrative and functional role;while the community is embedded in the state,hobby-based self-organization develops by organizing,gaining resources,organizational legitimacy and institutional support for state identity in action,and realizing bottom-up collaborative governance by playing a subjective and active role.In short,community self-organization provides an organized governance path for the development of grassroots society by playing a two-way embeddedness role.
