The Influence Of Floating Population’s Economic Status And Enjoyment Of Public Service On Settling Intention

Since the reform and opening up,under the role of the market economy,the scale of China’s floating population has been expanding.While seeking new job opportunities to improve economic income and living conditions,they have also contributed a lot to the development of China’s urbanization.However,the rapid urbanization has not fully endowed the floating population with relatively equal social public services,resulting in its low stability.Although the household registration policy has improved the stability of some floating population to a certain extent,the new problem that the household registration conditions do not match the household registration intention also appears.To solve this problem,a large number of scholars have studied the influencing factors of floating population’s willingness to settle down,providing empirical support for promoting the "people-oriented" new-type urbanization reform.Based on previous studies,this paper holds that the main factors affecting the willingness of floating population to settle down are their economic status and access to public services.In addition,they are also affected by personal characteristics such as age,household registration and education level,and there is heterogeneity in the city scale.On the basis of the above analysis,this paper studies the settlement intention and its influencing factors through descriptive statistical method and model regression method.The results show that:(1)the overall settlement intention of floating population is low,the settlement intention of megalopolis is the highest,the settlement intention of megalopolis and i-type cities is close,and the settlement intention of other cities is the lowest;(2)Economic status has a significant impact on the intention to settle down,reflected in the higher the level of economic income,occupation type of management technology,housing status of the floating population of self-purchase,the greater the possibility of settling down;(3)Access to public services has a significant impact on the willingness to settle down,and the floating population with access to health care and children’s education is more likely to settle down;When the variables of economic status and public service enjoyment are considered together and the control variables are included,their significance,influence intensity and influence direction change.(4)The factors influencing the settlement intention of floating population by city size are mainly reflected in the joint influence of economic status and public service enjoyment in megacities and i-type large cities,and the influence of public service enjoyment in megacities and other cities.Therefore,policy suggestions are put forward:The government needs to the characteristics of floating population’s economic status and try to use economic means to attract floating population to settle down.It is necessary for them to pay attention to the characteristics of public services enjoyed by floating population and moderately promote the equalization of public services.They should pay attention to the differences in the impact of different city sizes on settlement intention,promote urban settlement by category,and develop cities according to local conditions.
