In recent years,with the intensification of competition in the global 5G communication technology market and the outbreak of COVID-19,the international political and economic situation has changed dramatically,and China’s national image construction on Twitter has been challenged.At present,due to different ideologies and interest appeals,government departments,mainstream media and key opinion leaders of major countries in the world interact to build China’s national image on Twitter.The information about China’s national image on Twitter also presents the characteristics of multiple themes,video dissemination and mutual reflection.Although Twitter users’ perception of China’s national image has improved,there is still a big gap between it and the ideal national image of China.Twitter users selectively contact and selectively understand information related to China’s national image,and there is no obvious interaction with the accounts publishing such information.From the perspective of promoting the construction of China’s national ideal image,China lacks discourse advantage and social capital on Twitter.Cultural differences among different countries lead to insufficient discourse system integration,and the way of interaction also deviates from the characteristics of Twitter as a global social platform.Based on the analysis of the existing problems and their causes in the construction of China’s national image on Twitter platform,we should face the challenges from the macro,medium and micro levels.Attach importance to the establishment of an integrated strategic communication system between China and foreign countries to promote empathy,integration and common,clear national image positioning and seek cooperation and dialogue;Conform to the context of international social platform to improve the efficiency of national image construction,promote two-way communication and strengthen feedback adjustment;Innovative narrative strategies to enhance the sharing of language meaning,the initiative to set topics,vivid expression of China’s national image,improve the appeal of China’s national image.
