| With the continuous development of the economy,it has become an important economic and social phenomenon for farmers to work in cities.Farmers increase their income and improve their living standards by working in cities, accelerating the integration of urban and rural development in this process. In recent years, the loss of rural labor force has been severe, and the phenomenon of farmers entering cities for work has become increasingly common. At the same time,China is in a critical period of economic transformation, and the demand for labor force has shifted from "quantitative" to "knowledge-based" and "skilled",causing a serious impact on farmers entering cities for work.Kerqin Left Wing Middle Banner(referred to as Kezuo Middle Banner)is a typical region that focuses on agriculture and combines agriculture and animal husbandry. This paper selects 236 households and800 people from four administrative villages with the same natural conditions, social environment, and production methods as the survey subjects. On the basis of explaining the current situation of migrant workers working in cities and analyzing the reasons, this paper points out the influencing factors of migrant workers’ career choices, demonstrates whether their careers can transition from survival to development, and proposes corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. This will not only help migrant workers to recognize their own position, broaden income channels, comprehensively improve rural production and living conditions, enhance their sense of gain, happiness and security,so as to achieve common prosperity and stable economic development in ethnic areas. In the field research,it is found that migrant workers are engaged in all kinds of industries.Among them, accommodation and catering industry accounts for 34.1%,construction industry accounts for 26.8%,manufacturing industry accounts for 25.6%,transportation,warehousing,post and telecommunications industry accounts for 4.5%,wholesale and retail industry accounts for 3%,and resident service, repair and other services industry accounts for 6%.The income range also varies greatly, with an annual income of 0-20000 yuan accounting for 9.5%,40000-60000 yuan accounting for 86.5%,and high income individuals above 60000 yuan accounting for only 4%.The level of income is related to their profession. The main reason for migrant workers entering cities is the imbalance between farmers’ income and expenditure, with 78.5% of farmers in the entire sample falling into the "poverty trap".Furthermore, the agricultural production in Kezuo Middle Banner has fallen into a cycle of "high fertilizer-high yield-high fertilizer".The cost of agricultural production has increased, marginal benefits have decreased, and the "siphon effect" has led to a certain income gap between urban and rural areas.Farmers are unwilling to farm and therefore leave their homes to work. However,it is not easy for migrant workers to obtain satisfactory jobs after entering the city. The author found in the survey that the career choices of migrant workers are not only influenced by their own factors such as technical quality, education level, age structure, adaptability, health status, and employment concept, but also by objective factors such as job information, employment opportunities, children’s education, skill training, employment security, labor remuneration, etc.,making it impossible for them to engage in satisfactory work. The main purpose of this study is to conduct a systematic survey and research on the career choices of migrant workers in ethnic areas. In response to the issues raised above, relevant suggestions are proposed, including improving the comprehensive quality of migrant workers, improving public services, improving the level of urban-rural equalization, creating more job opportunities for enterprises, strengthening pre job training, expanding information channels for migrant workers, safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests, and encouraging migrant workers to return to their hometowns and start businesses.Employment is the most basic livelihood, and for the issue of migrant workers’ career choices,it is not only necessary to achieve the above points, but more importantly,to fundamentally change their career choices from survival oriented to development oriented.Development oriented professions can better drive the economic and social development of rural areas. In the urgent need to reshape the urban-rural relationship,it is necessary to make those who enter the city feel at ease, those who stay in the countryside feel comfortable, and create a new type of urban-rural relationship between workers, farmers, and farmers. |
