Abstract/Summary:
In the mid to late 1990 s,Russia,Belarus, and Kazakhstan gradually strengthened their ties and formed the "core of integration".With their development, the process of Eurasian integration gradually became clearer. In 1995,Russia,Belarus,and Kazakhstan signed the Customs Union Agreement, which represented the starting point of the Eurasian integration process. In 1996,in addition to Russia,Belarus, and Kazakhstan,Kyrgyzstan signed the Treaty on Strengthening Integration in the Economic and Cultural Fields, aiming to form integrated cooperation in various fields of social development.In2014,the President of Russia,Belarus and Kazakhstan signed the Eurasian economic union Treaty, which came into force at the beginning of the next year.On May 17,2018,Iran and the Eurasian economic union signed a "temporary agreement" in Astana, which led to the establishment of a mutual free trade area between the member countries of the Eurasian economic union and Iran.In the future, the Eurasian economic union will develop into an international organization with broad radiation and rich resources. This paper analyzes the process of Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union from the perspective of regional economic integration. It first analyzes the development and evolution of the "Eurasian Economic Union" from the perspective of regional integration, and then analyzes the reasons for Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. The main economic factors for Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union are: breaking the economic sanctions and trade blockade of the United States and the economic development opportunities brought by the Eurasian Economic Union. The security factors for Iran to join the Eurasian Economic Union include: the blockade imposed by the United States on Iran in Central Asia and the Middle East; The rise of terrorism in Central Asia and the Middle East;Iran’s security needs to shake off isolation and maintain regime stability. Finally,it discusses the attitude of the relevant countries towards Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union and the specific process of Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, including the attitude of Russia and Central Asian countries towards Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. On the whole, the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union are actively welcoming Iran’s accession. With regard to the progress of Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, the Free Trade Area Agreement has been signed and Iran is actively negotiating to join the Eurasian Economic Union.Iran faces some difficulties in joining the Eurasian Economic Union: the financial settlement system is not perfect; It is difficult to negotiate to join the Eurasian Economic Union. The impact of Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union on the Union itself includes the expansion of the market and the unified payment system. The impact of Iran’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union on the Union itself: market expansion;Unified payment system;Regional political stability and economic development. In the future,as Iran formally joins the Eurasian Economic Union,it will actively play a linkage effect and drive its own development with the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
