| The recruitment of local college students into the military is a manifestation of complying with the world trend,a concrete manifestation of implementing military service regulations,an objective need to promote national defense education for all,and a practical need for the modernization of our army.With the development of science and technology,the requirements of high-tech warfare in the information age on the cultural quality and professional ability of soldiers are becoming increasingly high,and local universities have gradually become an important “supply station”for troops.However,inspired by a series of preferential policies of the country,there are still problems such as the low motivation of college students to participate in the military and the difficulty in meeting the needs of the military and the country.Based on the theoretical foundation of the Astin I-E-O model,human capital theory,and social capital theory,this study constructs a model of influencing factors of local undergraduate college students’ willingness to join the military.Combining the data from the “2021 Hebei Province General University Student Development Questionnaire”,this study comprehensively uses questionnaire survey methods and interview methods to understand the personal characteristics,family characteristics,and institutional characteristics of local undergraduate students with willingness to join the military,To understand the differences in the willingness of local undergraduate students to join the military in personal factors,family factors,academic experience,and psychological and moral development levels,and explore the factors that affect the willingness of local undergraduate students to join the military.On this basis,it analyzes the problems existing in the recruitment of local undergraduate students into the military,and puts forward operable suggestions to improve the enthusiasm of local undergraduate students in the military,helping to cultivate and enhance their military service awareness,and helping to improve and develop the recruitment work of universities,troops,and the country.Based on the results of data analysis and interview data analysis,this study draws the following conclusions:(1)There are significant gender and urban-rural differences in the willingness of local undergraduate college students to join the military,and male and rural college students with household registration are more inclined to join the military;(2)Family economic level,parents’ educational background,and parents’ occupation have significant differences in the willingness of local undergraduate college students to join the military.The richer their family capital is,the less they want to join the military;(3)There are significant differences in the willingness of local undergraduate college students to join the military in terms of college type,professional type,and academic achievement.College students with rich human capital have a lower probability of choosing to join the military;(4)The better the level of psychological and moral development,the more inclined they are to choose to join the military;(5)Family economic level and parents’ occupation significantly affect the willingness of local undergraduate college students to join the military;(6)School type,experience as a class leader,scholarship experience,and foreign language proficiency significantly affect the willingness of local undergraduate college students to join the military;(7)Self efficacy significantly positively affects the willingness of local college students to join the military;(8)Recruitment propaganda,sense of belief,and military courses affect the willingness of local undergraduate college students to join the military.Based on the above research conclusions,this study summarizes the following problems of local undergraduate students participating in the military: it is difficult for college students willing to join the military to meet the needs of the army and the country,there is a lack of connection between universities and the army,college students’ awareness of military service has not been effectively cultivated in universities,and the work of conscription propaganda needs to be improved.Based on the above research findings,this study proposes the following recommendations: transform college student recruitment measures,improve the college student recruitment process-change the form of publicity,clarify the focus of publicity,and increase psychological counseling during the recruitment process;Explore the path to enhance college students’ military service awareness-innovate the form of military theory courses and practical courses;Establish a college student recruitment system that integrates national guidance,military support,and university organizations. |
