China’s new geography curriculum reform emphasizes the importance of context in teaching and learning,in the preamble section,emphasizing the enhancement of students’ ability to apply what they learn;in the implementation suggestions section,emphasizing the creation of context in teaching;in the teaching methods,focusing on the development and use of a variety of teaching resources and improving the openness and plurality of the teaching model;and emphasizing that the creation of real situations in context selection should be in line with students’ cognitive development level and life experience of students.Contextual teaching refers to the teaching method in which teachers create real and vivid scenes based on teaching objectives,guide students to learn in the real situations created by teachers,gain rich emotional experiences,and carry out independent knowledge construction in the process of answering and solving problems.Due to the gradual progress of the new curriculum reform,the traditional teaching methods have shown maladjustment,while contextual teaching has shown more advantages in the new teaching environment,and has been generally concerned by many scholars and widely used in daily geography teaching,playing an important role in stimulating students’ learning interest and improving geography cognition.However,there are still some problems on how to better introduce contextual teaching into geography classroom,and how to broaden the sources of materials for geography contextual teaching is the biggest problem to be overcome in conducting geography contextual teaching.In order to strengthen the research of high school geography contextual teaching and create the optimal teaching context in the classroom to enhance the teaching effect,the author tries to add geography TV program materials to the geography contextual teaching materials library based on the teaching practice for a certain period of time using survey method and experimental method,so as to expand the sources of materials for contextual teaching and explore the adaptation points of geography TV program materials and high school geography classroom,as well as the use methods in different context creation.The purpose of this study is to explore the adaptation of geography TV program materials to the high school geography classroom and the use of the materials in different contexts,so as to form a general process and usage standard for geography context teaching.We analyze the feasibility and advantages of using geography TV programs in geography contextual teaching;we design a case study on "Composition and vertical stratification of the atmosphere" and explore the strategies and methods of using geography TV programs in geography contextual teaching through summary and reflection.It is proved that the application of geography TV program materials in geography contextual teaching is conducive to expanding the sources of materials for contextual teaching,innovating geography teaching methods,and has special teaching advantages in enhancing students’ learning interests.
