Among many writing systems,Chinese characters are unique writing system,for many second language learners whose native language is an alphabetic language,Chinese characters are a big challenge in learning Chinese language.It is common for students to mispronounce,use and write the wrong Chinese characters.Chinese primary school students and foreign students in learning Chinese characters have similarities and differences.Similarities are that both are beginners to learning Chinese characters,and the mistakes they make in writing Chinese characters are common;the difference is that Chinese primary school students,as native Chinese speakers,have already acquired spoken Chinese before learning written Chinese,they can speak Chinese but cannot write Chinese characters.Foreign students have no Chinese foundation,neither speak Chinese nor can write Chinese characters.In addition,the teaching and learning methods of Chinese and foreign students are also different.As a Chinese language learner and local teacher in Iran,the author has also experienced many challenges in the process of learning Chinese characters.In the process of learning,I always consider these questions: How do Chinese people learn Chinese characters? What is the difference between the writing mistakes of primary school students and Iranian students? Is it possible to learn from the Chinese way of learning characters? Thinking about these issues inspired me for doing this study.This paper takes the Chinese and Iranian students’ Chinese writing corpus as the investigation content,investigates the types of writing errors,analyzes the causes,and on the basis of comparative analysis,explores the inspiration and suggestions about teaching and learning Chinese characters for Iranian students.The thesis first introduces the reasons for choosing the topic,research value,research results,research content and methods,corpus sources and other basic issues,also provides an analytical framework for the types of writing errors.Then,the types and causes of Chinese writing errors of Iranian students and Chinese primary school students were compared and analyzed.On this basis,a comparative analysis of Chinese and Iranian students’ writing errors of Chinese characters is carried out,and the enlightenment and suggestions for Chinese characters teaching for Iranian students are discussed.According to the statistics of Chinese and Iranian students’ writing errors in Chinese characters,the Chinese and Iranian students’ writing errors are divided into four categories: stroke errors,component errors,whole character errors and wrongly written characters.Stroke errors are further divided into six categories : stroke deformation,misadded strokes,missing strokes,misplaced strokes,improper stroke length and stroke combination.Component errors are divided into component deformation,misadded components,missing components,component replacement,component dislocation and Chinese character component distance.Mistakes in“wrongly written characters” are divided into similar in shape,similar in pronunciation,similar in shape and pronunciation,and other types of wrongly written characters.The study found that there are similarities and differences in the writing errors of Chinese and Iranian students.The similarities are that the writing errors of them can be classified into the same type of error classification,and the stroke errors are the most.Incorrect component replacement at the component level is common.In addition,there are similarities in the cognitive mechanism of Chinese characters.The difference is that Chinese students have a higher cognition of Chinese characters,the proportion of different types of errors is different,Iranian students will be influenced by Persian or other languages,Chinese students write more neatly and beautifully than Iranian students.
