Social anxiety is one of the most common psychological disorders in today’s society.Due to the universality of social anxiety, many studies have studied it as one of the most important emotional disorders.Social anxiety can lead to some psychological and behavioral problems.Individuals with social anxiety fear that their performance will lead to negative evaluation of others,so they actively avoid social interaction. They will experience fear and anxiety in social performance and interactive situations, which has a significant negative impact on all aspects of their lives. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current situation of College Students’ self-esteem,negative evaluation fear, body image worry and social anxiety, try to explore the influence mechanism of College Students’ negative evaluation fear and body image worry between self-esteem and social anxiety, and establish a mathematical model between these factors to verify the possible mediating role of negative evaluation fear between self-esteem and social anxiety,To explore the first mock exam’s role in the adjustment of this model,we hope to further enrich the related research on social anxiety, and provide reference for the formation of social anxiety in Chinese college students. In this study,620 college students from freshman to senior grades in Colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province were selected as subjects.Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, concise negative evaluation fear scale, adolescent body image annoyance questionnaire and Communication Anxiety Scale were used as measurement tools. The data were collected by spss25 0 software, using descriptive statistics,t-test,correlation analysis, mediation analysis and regulation analysis to explore the relationship between variables. The conclusions are as follows:(1)There are significant gender differences in college students’ negative evaluation fear, body image worry and social anxiety.Among them, girls’ negative evaluation fear is significantly higher than boys, and boys’ body image worry and social anxiety are significantly higher than girls.(2)There are significant differences in the majors of College Students’ body image troubles. The body image troubles of liberal arts students are significantly higher than those of science students.(3)There were significant correlations among self-esteem,negative evaluation fear, body image worry and social anxiety. There was a significant negative correlation between anxiety and social self-esteem;There was a significant negative correlation between negative evaluation fear and social anxiety; There was a significant negative correlation between body image worry and negative evaluation fear and social anxiety.(4)Fear of negative evaluation plays a mediating role between self-esteem and social anxiety.(5)Self esteem can directly predict social anxiety, and it can also predict social anxiety through the mediating effect of negative evaluation fear.(6)Body image annoyance plays a moderating role in the predictive effect of self-esteem on negative evaluation fear.In the three levels of body image worry, the mediating effect of negative evaluation fear in the relationship between self-esteem and social anxiety shows an upward trend, that is,with the improvement of body image worry level,self-esteem is more likely to induce social anxiety through the improvement of College Students’ negative evaluation fear.To sum up,this study successfully verified the impact of self-esteem on social anxiety-a regulated mediation model, that is,self-esteem can not only directly predict social anxiety, but also predict social anxiety through the mediation of negative evaluation fear, and body image worry plays a regulatory role in the prediction of self-esteem on negative evaluation fear. This result provides a clearer path for how self-esteem affects social anxiety, enriches the relevant research on social anxiety, and makes some theoretical support and suggestions for reducing the incidence of social anxiety and improving the mental health level of college students.
