With the rapid development of information age and the society’s desire for comprehensive talents,China began to reform education and introduce new educational concepts and teaching models.In 2017,the Ministry of Education officially promulgated the Primary Science Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education,which officially recommended STEM education concepts to teachers and advocated teachers to apply STEM education concepts in primary science classes.Moreover,due to the characteristics of multi-discipline,knowledge application and solution of primary science,the teaching method suitable for project-based learning is suitable.Therefore,the combination of STEM education concept and project-based learning is conducive to improving students’ comprehensive ability.However,according to the collection and arrangement of literature,the application of STEM education concepts and project-based learning in science classrooms of primary and secondary schools in China has not been popularized.Therefore,how to construct a project-based teaching design for primary school science based on STEM education concept under the guidance of STEM education concept,on the basis of primary school science subject content and supplemented by project learning,and apply it to practice to provide reference for STEM education in domestic primary school science classroom.The students in Class 6,Grade 4 of the school where the internship is conducted are the research objects.First of all,through the literature review of STEM education and science curriculum in primary and secondary schools at home and abroad,under the guidance of constructivism,multiple intelligence and other theories,the principles of project-based teaching design based on STEM education concept are determined,and five elements of project-based teaching process of primary science based on STEM education concept are proposed.Secondly,in the form of interview and questionnaire survey,this paper investigates the teaching status of science classroom in primary schools,as well as the basic situation and comprehensive ability of students in science classroom.It lays the foundation for the teaching design of primary school science project based on STEM education concept.Thirdly,combined with the teaching content of the unit "Movement and Force" in the science textbook for the fourth grade of primary school,the paper analyzes the teaching objectives of STEM concept,designs a three-stage and five-element primary school science project-style teaching process based on STEM education concept,and carries out experimental teaching.Finally,the comprehensive ability questionnaire was conducted for the students of Class 6,Grade 4,which proved that the project-based teaching based on STEM education concept could improve the comprehensive ability of students,and diversified teaching evaluation methods were adopted to test the teaching effect.Research proved that based on STEM education concept of elementary school science project type teaching to arouse the enthusiasm of students in science class,to a certain extent,improve the students’ comprehensive ability,and diversified ways of evaluation is helpful for students to understand their own shortcomings,teachers can know the differences between the students,reflect the students’ main body status.
