| With the strengthening of the "family" trend of migrant workers’ mobility and the continuous improvement of education policies in different places, the number of children of migrant workers increases. However,in the face of the unfamiliar environment in the place where they move to,while enjoying the high-quality resources of the city, the children who move with their parents also face many problems and challenges such as psychology, peer communication, social integration and education. From the perspective of developmental psychology, people whom the children communicate with gradually shift from parents to peers.Communicating with peers normally is an important part to fit in school and city life. However, there are many reasons for the negative emotions such as inferiority, sensitivity and violence in the process of reconstructing peer group, which seriously hinder the normal communication between the children and the peer group, thus affecting the development of their physical and mental health. Therefore, this study attempts to use professional theories and skills in social work to help migrant workers’ accompanying children improve their peer communication ability, which has important practical significance.Choosing elementary school S of city B as a sample, this study selected 100 children of migrant workers in grade five and six and 100 local children as research objects. The study uses peer exchange scale to measure the process and uses the method of comparison analysis to compare the interaction ability between the experimental group---children of migrant workers and the control group---local children.Ten children of migrant workers with serious problems who are in need of change were selected to form the "Peer with me" growth group.Using qualitative and quantitative research methods, this paper investigates the status of the peer communication ability of the children of migrant workers, and analyzes the reasons why the children who move with them lack the communication ability from the perspectives of individuals, families, schools and communities. The research then comprehensively explores the needs of their peer communication.Analysis of group work in communication ability of the migrant workers’ children is practical and viable. On this basis, using the theory of strength perspective, social learning theory as a guide, the research conducts eight group activities to continuously improve the peer communication abilities of the experimental group, including the four dimensions---verbal and nonverbal expression and comprehension, mood disorders of peer exchanges, initiative of peer exchanges and prosocial behavior. The process and effectiveness of the activity were evaluated by comparing the "pre-test" and "post-test" data of multiple dimensions;by group members’ self-evaluation;and by interviewing teachers and parents. The results show that the peer communication ability of migrant workers’ accompanying children is lower than that of local children, but through the intervention of professional group work,it effectively improves the peer communication ability of migrant workers’ accompanying children, makes them better integrate into peer groups, and thus better adapt to urban life. However, the problems of peer communication among children of migrant workers living with them are diverse and the influencing factors are different. To improve their peer communication ability, children themselves, families, schools and communities need to make joint efforts to better solve the problems. |
