Children’s externalizing problem behavior occurred frequently, which aroused the general attention of the society.Externalizing problem behavior may not only transform into more serious illegal and anti-social behaviors, threatening campus safety and social stability, but also be detrimental to children’s own healthy growth.Family is an important environmental factor affecting children.Children will observe and learn conflict patterns between parents, which will lead to externalized problem behaviors such as bullying classmates. Therefore,it is necessary to intervene children in families with conflicting parents, which is beneficial to reduce children’s externalizing problem behaviors and promote their adaptive development. This study used the methods of interview and questionnaire to investigate the current situation of externalizing problem behaviors of rural primary school children, designed a group scheme based on the intermediary factors of parental conflict affecting children’s externalization behavior to alleviate the impact of parental conflict.Firstly,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 474 senior primary school students in rural areas, and 20 children with serious externalization problems and high scores of perceived parental conflicts were screened out and interviewed. Then the eight team members involved in the group were determined according to the voluntary principle.Secondly, according to cognitive behavior theory, ecological system theory and social learning theory, this 9-section group activity is designed from establishing correct cognitive evaluation, learning emotion management skills and effective coping style:Sessions 1-3 guide the group members to make reasonable attributions of parental conflict,so that the group members can form a correct cognitive evaluation of themselves and their parents’ conflicts, and the activities in the 4-5 sessions organize the group members to learn effective skills of emotional management and guide the group members.Through scenario simulation and role-playing,group members can master interpersonal skills and effective ways to deal with parental conflicts, thereby improving children’s ability to cope with parental conflicts and reducing externalized problem behaviors. Finally, the effectiveness of this group work practice is evaluated by using externalized problem behavior scale, group process record table, group satisfaction and goal achievement feedback form and other tools. The conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)The externalization problem behavior of senior students in rural primary school is serious and there are significant differences in gender,as boys are more likely to have externalizing problem behaviors than girls;children’s perceived parental conflict is common, and there are significant differences in gender, showing that fifthgrade children perceive more parental conflict than sixth-grade children.(2)Correlation analysis and mediating effect test showed that there was a significant positive correlation between parental conflict and children’s externalized problem behavior;parental conflict indirectly affected children’s externalizing problem behavior through the chain-mediated mediating effects of cognitive evaluation, emotional management, and coping style, and indirect effects they accounted for 43.75%of the total effect, and the indirect effect was obvious.(3)The intervention of group work plays a positive role in reducing the negative impact of parental conflict on rural children’s externalized problem behavior. It can help children establish a correct cognitive evaluation of parental conflict and help them learn effective emotional management methods and coping styles.Based on the above research results, this study considers that parental conflict indirectly affects children’s externalizing problem behavior through the chain mediating effect of cognitive evaluation, emotional management, and coping style.Under the guidance of cognitive behavioral theory, ecosystem theory and social learning theory, with the establishment of correct cognitive evaluation, learning emotional management and effective coping as the starting point to design group activities and carry out practice, which can help children alleviate the impact of parental conflict on themselves and reduce the occurrence of externalizing problem behaviors.
