Human capital is widely regarded by scholars at home and abroad as the key factor to promote a country’s economic growth.According to the current research, human capital is mainly divided into educational human capital and health human capital. However, for a long time, people have paid more attention to education. With the continuous improvement of the quality of life of Chinese residents, health,as another important form of human capital besides education, has been paid more and more attention by national policies. The influence of healthy human capital on economic growth has been increasingly concerned by scholars and become a hot field of economic growth research.Health is fundamental to human beings and the basis for all human activities of production and life.It is not only a kind of consumer goods, but also a kind of capital. In this paper, some health indicators in China are described.Secondly, using the latest data from 2005 to 2019 in China, the health human capital index system was constructed by complex method, and the objective weight characteristic of entropy weight method was used to calculate the regional health human capital index. Then Arc GIS is used to analyze the level of health human capital in China.Furthermore, this paper adopts macro data of31 provinces in China, introduces health, education, material capital and other factors into Cobb-Douglas production function model, and constructs a two-way fixed effect model to further investigate the impact of health human capital on economic growth. On this basis, and regional heterogeneity was tested based on quantile regression of economic growth and north-south.It is found that:(1)The level of health human capital in China has been increasing during the past 15 years;(2)There are regional differences in the development level of health human capital: At present, the health human capital level in eastern China is developing rapidly and remains in the forefront, and Beijing,Guangzhou,Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Shandong are always in the forefront;Guizhou,Yunnan,Qinghai,Tibet and other western regions ranked low in health human capital level, which should be paid more attention to.The development of health human capital in northeast China is not good, and the growth rate is lower than other regions in the past 15 years.(3)The improvement of health human capital level will bring about the increase of local real per capita GDP,that is,health human capital has a significant positive effect on economic growth;(4)The contribution degree of health human capital to economic growth is related to local economic development level, and there is north-south heterogeneity: the improvement of health human capital in regions with higher economic development level can drive economic growth more. From the perspective of north and South, compared with the north, the improvement of health human capital in the south can drive the local economic growth more.On the one hand, the government should pay attention to the investment of medical and health resources and the improvement of efficiency;on the other hand, the government should focus on the balance of regional differences in medical and health development.
