| The change of educational environment and other new features in the seventh grade, which is a critical period of transition between primary and junior high school, affects students’ learning adaptability to a certain extent and affects their performance in various subjects, especially in mathematics more significantly than other subjects. It is necessary to do an in-depth study on the learning adaptability of the seventh grade students in mathematics because it is difficult for them to adapt to mathematics and having good adaptability in mathematics can lay a solid foundation for their learning in later mathematics courses.Firstly, through the literature,we summarize the concepts related to mathematics learning adaptability and determine the theoretical basis and research direction of this paper. We also refer to the "Learning Adaptation Test" developed by Professor Zhou Bucheng and the measurement tools of some other researchers on mathematics learning adaptability, and adapt them to the actual situation of students in the research schools to get the "Mathematics Learning Adaptability Questionnaire for the seventh grade students".Secondly,by conducting a questionnaire survey on some seventh grade students in XX Middle School in Changji City,Xinjiang, and analyzing the questionnaire data using SPSS 26.0 software,we understood the overall current level of seventh grade students’ mathematics learning adaptability and investigated whether there were significant differences in seventh grade students’ mathematics learning adaptability in terms of gender, ethnicity, whether they were only children, class, and parents’ education. Finally, combining the questionnaire results and student interviews,we analyzed several factors affecting seventh graders’ mathematics learning adaptability and made targeted suggestions. The results of the questionnaire indicated that(1)Seventh graders’ overall mathematics learning adaptation was at an intermediate level, with the best performance on the learning interest and motivation dimensions and the worst performance on the teacher and parental influence dimensions;(2)There were significant differences in seventh graders’ mathematics learning adaptation in terms of ethnicity and class, and no significant differences in terms of gender, whether they were only children, and parental education.Combined with the interview results, several influential factors on seventh grade students’ mathematics learning adaptability were explored:(1)Changes in the content of primary and secondary school mathematics textbooks and curriculum objectives;(2)Changes in teachers’ teaching styles and tensions between teachers and students;(3)Students’ lack of study habits and unstable learning mindset;(4)The influence of parents’ concern and class learning atmosphere. Finally,in order to improve students’ adaptability in mathematics learning, this paper combines the current situation and attribution analysis of the seventh grade students’ adaptability in mathematics learning and tries to make some suggestions:(1)To grasp the connection between the contents of primary and secondary school textbooks in four aspects:rational numbers, equations, application problems, space and figures;(2)Teachers should grasp the appropriate teaching pace, establish a harmonious teacher-student relationship, guide students’ mathematics learning methods, and improve their own teaching methods(3)Students should develop good mathematics learning habits and learn to be the master of learning mathematics;(4)Parents reasonable expectation, encouragement and persuasion, good example;Teachers emphasize classroom discipline, encourage students to help each other, and the class forms a sense of competition. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the current situation and factors influencing the level of the seventh grade students’ adaptation to mathematics learning, and on this basis, put forward targeted suggestions to improve the quality of secondary school mathematics teaching and help students better adapt to the seventh grade mathematics learning. |
