Big concepts are the core of the biology discipline and play a leading role in the learning of basic biological knowledge.Optimizing the teaching of biological concepts,instructing students to understand the concepts correctly,and using the concepts flexibly on the basis of understanding the concepts are important means to realize the effectiveness of the biology classroom teaching process.However,the development situation of high school biology concept teaching is not optimistic,and there are many disadvantages that violate the basic concepts and core literacy of biology curriculum standards.The core concept of the TfU(Teaching for Understanding)teaching model is "teaching for understanding",which aims to help students deeply understand concepts,promote the effective construction of concepts,and then strengthen students’ ability to use concepts to solve practical problems.The core concept of the TfU teaching model coincides with the theoretical connotation of the teaching of biological concepts.Therefore,under the guidance of the TfU teaching model,this study designs the teaching process of high school biology concepts,constructs the structural system of high school biology concept teaching under the TfU teaching model,realizes the effectiveness of concept teaching,and stimulates students’ interest in biology.The purpose is to improve students’ learning interest and enthusiasm,improve students’ ability to understand concepts and principles,and strengthen students’ ability to use knowledge to solve problems.In order to explore how to effectively apply the TfU teaching model to concept teaching,the students in four classes in the second grade of a middle school in Harbin conducted a survey on the status of concept learning and the ability to understand the knowledge of concept principles.The TfU teaching model was used in concept teaching to communicate.The survey results show that students’ understanding and learning methods of biological concepts and principles need to be improved,teachers are more inclined to traditional teaching methods for biological concept teaching,and front-line teachers express positive attitudes towards the application of TfU teaching model to biological concept teaching.According to the above survey results,this study constructs a concept teaching process based on the TfU teaching model: first,analyze the concept content in the biology curriculum standard,and clarify the requirements of the curriculum standard for concept teaching;The teaching principles of developmental and continuous evaluation are used to carry out concept teaching;thirdly,the conceptual teaching process design under the TfU teaching model is formulated,which is to proceed step by step according to the four steps of inspiring topics,understanding goals,understanding activities,and continuous evaluation,and lists Two teaching cases illustrate the construction of the entire teaching process.The results of the concept teaching practice based on the TfU teaching mode show that after a semester of teaching practice,the students in the experimental class have significantly different understanding of concept and principle knowledge than the control class under the traditional teaching mode(P<0.05),especially in the explanation,looking for evidence and examples,concept application,and analogical reasoning,the four dimensions have been significantly improved,and the ability of analogical reasoning has not changed significantly(P>0.05).The goal was achieved,and the three dimensions were significantly improved(P<0.05),and the difference in pre-class preparation was not obvious(P>0.05).In the biology final test,the average score of objective questions in the experimental class increased by 4.49 points compared with the control class.The average score of subjective questions increased by 5.31 points.Therefore,it is believed that applying the TfU teaching model to concept teaching can effectively promote students’ understanding of concept principles,improve students’ classroom performance,and promote the improvement of students’ biological performance.It is a feasible and effective teaching model.
