With the continuous development of information technology,the integration of information technology and mathematics curriculum is proposed in the compulsory education mathematics curriculum standards(2022 edition).The deep integration of information technology and subject teaching is a way to promote information technology in education and improve the quality of education.The content of "observing objects" is one of the important knowledge points of"graphics and geometry" in mathematics,which mainly cultivates students’ spatial imagination and observation ability.Unity3D game development engine can create a virtual three-dimensional space to develop educational games,so that students can visually and graphically observe objects and promote the cultivation of mathematical cognition and spatial imagination.However,there are few educational games about cultivating students’ observation ability and spatial concept,and there is a lack of educational games that are compatible with students’ cognitive development and teaching actual situation.In view of the above situation,this paper designs and develops an educational game named "Observe Objects" with the lesson of "Take a Look" in the second book of the fourth grade mathematics of the North Teachers’University edition as the teaching content.Through various activities of observation,imagination,conjecture and verification designed by the educational game,the content of elementary school mathematics teaching is combined with the educational game to deepen students’ understanding and mastery of mathematical knowledge and develop spatial concepts from the students’ cognitive level.The teaching effects and potential values achieved are explored through the application of educational games to provide relevant cases for the development and application of mathematics educational games.In this paper,we use CiteSpace software to analyze the current situation of the literature research on educational games in China in the past 10 years and review foreign related literature to explore the research hotspots and research trends of educational games.The concepts and theoretical foundations are defined to lay the foundation for the design and development of educational games.Based on the physical and mental development characteristics of elementary school students and the theoretical basis of teaching,we designed and developed the educational game"Observe Objects" with the help of Unity3D game development engine to be applied in elementary school mathematics teaching.The experimental research method and the questionnaire survey method were used to investigate the effect of the "Observe Objects" educational game in the mathematics classroom.The subjects of the experiment were 97 students in two classes of the fourth grade in an elementary school in GuangMing District,Shenzhen.Through teaching practice,we analyzed the practical effects of the educational game "Observe Objects" on improving mathematics learning,and the main conclusions were as follows.1.The application of the educational game improved students’ interest in learning and promoted their enthusiasm and sense of inquiry in learning mathematics.2.The 3D interactive educational game can promote students’ understanding of mathematical contents and facilitate the construction of new knowledge.The "Observe Objects" educational game developed in this study has achieved the expected effect in teaching and has practical reference value for front-line teachers to develop relevant teaching games according to mathematics teaching materials.
