Guangxi is a region inhabited by the Zhuang people and is blessed with Zhuang cultural resources.Children in Guangxi who have grown up in Zhuang areas are often exposed to Zhuang cultural resources close to their daily lives,thus providing them with convenient conditions to experience the excellent Zhuang traditional culture.The integration of Zhuang culture into thematic activities in kindergartens is of great significance to children in terms of their exposure to and experience of Zhuang culture,their experience of Zhuang customs and traditions,the cultivation of ethnic pride and the promotion of greater ethnic unity.This study takes Kindergarten S in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as the research object,and uses observation,interview and text analysis as the main methods to investigate the development of the integration of Zhuang culture into thematic activities in Kindergarten S.The first part is the introduction,which includes the origin of the study,the purpose and significance of the study,the definition of relevant concepts,the literature review,the theoretical basis and the research design.The second part is a theoretical analysis of the integration of Zhuang culture into kindergarten theme activities.It outlines the history of the development of Zhuang culture,the content and forms of Zhuang culture,analyses the application value of integrating Zhuang culture into kindergarten theme activities,and explains the principles of integrating Zhuang culture into kindergarten theme activities;the third part is the current situation of integrating Zhuang culture into kindergarten theme activities.The study investigates the attitudes of kindergarten S towards the integration of Zhuang culture into thematic activities,the formulation of the objectives of thematic activities,the selection of the content of thematic activities and the organisation and implementation of thematic activities,in order to understand the basic situation of the integration of Zhuang culture into thematic activities in kindergartens.The fourth section summarises the useful experiences and problems of integrating Zhuang culture into thematic activities in Kindergarten S.The beneficial experiences of the integration of Zhuang culture into the theme activities in S Park are:teachers’ positive attitude towards the integration of Zhuang culture into children’s curriculum;focus on the living of the content of the theme activities of Zhuang culture into kindergartens;focus on the diversity of the implementation of the theme activities of Zhuang culture into kindergartens;and kindergartens’ support and autonomy for teachers.The problems with the integration of Zhuang culture into kindergarten thematic activities include: incomplete exploration of the content of thematic activities;insufficient integration of the design of thematic activities;lack of children’s subjectivity in the implementation of thematic activities;and uneven distribution of the organisation of thematic activities.The fifth part is the reasons for the problems of integrating Zhuang culture into kindergarten thematic activities.This study suggests that the main reasons for this are the lack of in-depth knowledge of Zhuang culture among kindergarten teachers,the lack of training on curriculum reform related to Zhuang culture in kindergartens,the lack of a curriculum resource base for Zhuang culture in kindergartens,and the decrease in home cooperation and social practice activities related to Zhuang culture.The last section contains suggestions for optimising the integration of Zhuang culture into kindergarten thematic activities.Based on the causes of the problems,several suggestions are made to optimise the integration of Zhuang culture into the thematic activities of kindergartens: teachers should consciously strengthen their knowledge of Zhuang culture and improve their ability to implement activities;kindergartens should strengthen the training of teachers in Zhuang culture;create a resource bank of Zhuang culture curriculum for kindergartens;and strengthen the cooperation between kindergartens,families and society in Zhuang culture thematic activities.
