The fundamental task of physical education in the new era is to give full play to the value of moral education under the fundamental mission of "establishing moral education and cultivating talents".The integration of physical education with moral education can not only teach sports skills and improve sports ability,but also help students to establish a correct outlook on life,values and worldview,and realize the fundamental task of establishing moral education in a subtle way in physical education classroom teaching,so as to achieve the synergistic development of physical education and moral education.This study adopts the method of literature review to summarize and explore the evolution process of physical education and moral education in schools in China.It is concluded that before the establishment of the People’s Republic of China,learning from Western countries was the main focus,and the content of moral education was rich and student-centered.During the initial exploration period of the People’s Republic of China,it demonstrated that "Russia is the teacher" and moral education is dominated by social needs.During the period from the reform and opening up to the new curriculum reform,school physical education and moral education entered a period of rapid development,and moral education began to expand from social needs to the needs of physical education subjects and students themselves.In the new era,school physical education and moral education have entered a period of high-quality development,incorporating core sports literacy,and achieving more comprehensive,scientific,and reasonable moral education in physical education classrooms.Based on literature policies and the ancient and modern connotations of "cultivating virtue and cultivating people",this paper explores the essence,function,significance,task,and content of integrated moral education in middle school physical education.The significance lies in strengthening patriotic ideology,cultivating team and competitive awareness,cultivating excellent moral qualities,and establishing correct outlook on life and values;The task is to strengthen education in sports ethics,sports spirit,and sports character;The content mainly includes patriotism,collectivism,rule consciousness,will quality and sense of responsibility.Through interviews and questionnaire surveys,a survey was conducted on the practical situation of integrating moral education in physical education classrooms among 55 physical education teachers and 377 middle school students from 10 middle schools in Shizhong District,Jinan City.Through research,it has been found that the awareness of physical education teachers in implementing the fundamental task of "cultivating morality and cultivating talents" needs to be strengthened;Physical education teachers can choose certain moral education content based on the teaching content,but due to the lack of summarizing and organizing the moral education content in different sports projects,the selection of moral education content is not systematic;The moral education methods used by physical education teachers in the classroom are not flexible enough,relying on traditional,simple,and familiar methods,while other methods are used less frequently;The evaluation system in physical education classrooms is not perfect enough and lacks moral education evaluation factors.Based on research findings,a practical path for integrating moral education in middle school physical education classrooms is proposed: Strengthen training,improve physical education teachers’ comprehensive understanding of sports integrated moral education,and strengthen their physical education moral literacy;Systematically summarize the moral education content contained in different teaching contents,establish a physical education classroom moral education resource library,and scientifically and reasonably carry out moral education;Continuously optimizing and innovating moral education methods in physical education classrooms to ensure the effectiveness of classroom moral education;We should grasp diagnostic evaluation,attach importance to formative evaluation,improve summative evaluation,and use the "integral method" to quantify moral education evaluation indicators to improve the moral education factors in physical education classroom evaluation;Fully utilize teaching carriers such as the Internet,campus activities,and club activities to stimulate students’ enthusiasm for physical education learning,and enrich and improve the activity carriers for integrating middle school physical education with moral education.
