| As society continues to progress and develop, the lives of people with disabilities are gradually receiving attention from all sectors of society, and the government has gradually improved the livelihood and welfare protection system for people with disabilities. It is worth noting that although people with mild disabilities have some employability, they face huge challenges in the job market.Among other things, the lack of proper understanding of persons with mild disabilities among the surrounding groups and the lack of professional skills training and adequate social support for persons with mild disabilities have led to many persons with mild disabilities who are capable of working failing to achieve employment. In addition, most of the research on the theory and practice of people with disabilities in China has focused on medium and severe disabilities, but there is a lack of research on people with mild disabilities, and there is also a lack of research on social work interventions in the employment of people with mild disabilities. These factors have constrained the development of persons with mild disabilities in the employment market.During her internship, the author was involved in a research project on the employment of persons with mild disabilities with the X Community Service Centre’s "Helping Wings for the Future" as a social worker. The aim of this paper is to explore the social work approach to the employment of people with mild disabilities. The research was based on theories of strengths perspective, social support, and social inclusion, and was conducted in a group interaction model. The research used literature research, interviews, and participant observation to assess the problems faced by people with mild disabilities in employment,to explore social work approaches that can be applied to the employment of people with mild disabilities. The study found that the employment needs of persons with mild disabilities included enhancing employment skills, exploring their potential, accessing employment information, mutual support for persons with disabilities and social participation in interpersonal relationships.Social workers designed activities based on the five needs and recruited group members to carry out group activities with a view to empowering each group and building peer support and social support for people with mild disabilities.A later quantitative and qualitative evaluation found that the group interaction model played a positive role in enhancing the confidence and ability of persons with mild disabilities to find employment and meet their employment needs. This study,as a meaningful attempt on the path of employment services for people with mild disabilities, could not solve all the problems, but the comparison between the before and after activities showed that the conditions of the clients did improve, which proved the right direction of the services. The results of the study show that applying professional theories can effectively enhance the employ ability of people with mild disabilities, that integrating social resources is an effective way to meet the employment needs of people with disabilities, and that group work is an effective way to meet the employment needs of people with disabilities. |
