Practical Exploration Of The Application Of Social Work Intervening In Supported Employment For People With Mild Mental Retardation

Returning to society is an important goal of vocational rehabilitation services for people with mild mental retardation.Relevant studies have shown that supported employment can help people with mild mental retardation to develop their potential,restore social functions and improve their quality of life.However,there is a lack of research and practice on social work intervention in supported employment for people with mild mental retardation in China.In addition,through the survey on the employment demand of mildly mentally disabled people in G city,it is also found that the mildly mentally disabled people in G city mainly participate in sheltered or semi-sheltered vocational rehabilitation services,which are still far from stable employment and real return to the society.With the development of professional social work,it is necessary to combine the characteristics of local supporting employment,to explore and perfect the social work intervention in mild intellectual disabilities supporting the effective strategy of obtain employment,to help mild intellectual disabilities to establish personal advantage,increase peer support,improve professional ability,thus to promote and enhance the possibility of its stable employment and return to society.First of all,this study reviews the existing achievements by systematically combing and analyzing the current domestic and foreign researches on social work involvement in the supported employment of people with mild mental disabilities.In addition,by participating in the supported employment service project of G city and conducting semi-structured interviews with social workers in contact with the project,the practical process of social work intervention in the supported employment of mildly mentally disabled people was analyzed from the three stages of employment preparation period,employment adaptation period and employment stabilization period.Second,the study found that social work intervention in mild intellectual disabilities exists three problems,namely,mild intellectual disabilities supporting employment of coverage rate is still low,mild intellectual disabilities employment quality is still at the lower level,supported employment stability is poorer after the end of the social work intervention,this study analyzes the social work intervention in mild intellectual disabilities supporting employment problems and the causes from individual,social support,social work and society four aspects.Finally,on this basis,the countermeasures and suggestions for social work to intervene in the supported employment of people with mild mental retardation are discussed.At the social support level,strengthen the social support network for people with mild mental disabilities in supported employment;At the social work sector level,to improve the level of professional services in supported employment for people with mild mental disabilities;At the society level,promote the improvement of supportive employment policies for people with mild intellectual disabilities and increase the acceptance and recognition of people with mild mental disabilities by the general public.
