Objective: Over the past decade, researchers have consistently demonstrated the value of the influence of feedback on motor learning, and the timing of feedback is the key to effectively use the value of feedback. In order to further explore the relationship between feedback timing and skill learning effect when learning complex motor skills, different feedback timing was adopted at different stages of skill formation through video feedback as the medium. In this study, two different combinations of video feedback timing were discussed to intervene the students of badminton restricted class.Combination 1: use video immediate feedback in skill acquisition stage and video delayed feedback in skill consolidation and improvement stage;Combination 2: use video delayed feedback in skill acquisition stage and video immediate feedback in skill consolidation and improvement stage. The immediate feedback in this study refers to when the exercise stop then feedback provided immediately, and the delayed feedback refers to when the exercise stop, then the feedback provided within 10-15 s.By comparing the application effects of different combinations of video feedback timing modes in badminton class, seeks the best feedback mode, and provides a basis for the application of feedback means in badminton teaching and finding out the rules of feedback timing. Methods: Firstly, two classes of Physical Education of freshmen in Shanghai University of Sport were selected. The students who did not meet the requirements of the experiment were eliminated and the experimental objects were determined(Class1: 24 students: 21 boys and 3 girls;Class 2: 24 boys and 20 girls).Class 1 as experimental Group A used the video feedback timing of Combination 1,and Class 2as experimental Group B used the video feedback timing of combination 2.The experimental intervention was performed twice a week for 16 weeks. In each training session before the motor skill acquisition stage, subjects’ movements were recorded for 5-8 seconds, and the action videos of elite athletes were played together to give video feedback.Group A received immediate video feedback, and group B received delayed video feedback.During each training session of the skill consolidation and improvement phase, the subjects were videotaped with 5-8 seconds of movement exercises.Group A received video delayed feedback, and Group B received video immediate feedback. The homogeneity test was conducted before the experiment, and badminton skills were tested for both groups in the 8th and 16 th week. After the experiment, questionnaires were issued to measure the changes in learning interest, cognitive changes and problem-solving ability of students.SPSS was used for data processing and analysis of the first, middle and last three tests and questionnaires. Results: After 16 weeks of experiment, there were significant differences between Group A and Group B in the standard result of long high serve, the standard result of high clear, the frequency of drop points in the point zone and the result of skill evaluation(p < 0.05),but there were no significant differences between the two groups in the standard result and skill evaluation of lift(p > 0.05).Conclusion:(1)Both of the two combinations of video feedback timing can have a positive impact on the learning of technical movements, but the application effect of the video feedback first immediately and then delayed is better in badminton teaching.(2)The pre-test results show that homogeneity test can ensure the comparability between the two groups. The experimental results show that the use of video immediate feedback in the acquisition stage of motor skills can deepen direct experience and promote the establishment of motor imagery. The post-test results show that in the stage of skill consolidation and improvement,Using video delayed feedback can effectively promote self-awareness and establish self-correction mechanism.(3)The timing of combined video feedback breaks through the limitations of traditional teaching.Teachers can use such feedback method to efficiently guide students’ movements, and also greatly improve the classroom learning atmosphere, which meets the teaching requirements of sports technology in the new era. However, the optimal delay time point of feedback needs further research.
