| Geography is the science of the Earth’s surface systems.Geographic landscape,on the other hand,is the outward representation of the surface systems.“Images of geographic landscapes” visualize geographic landscapes through cameras,paper and pen,and other tools;meanwhile,such images are used as common teaching aids in geography class.In this paper,using literature review,content analysis,interviews,questionnaire survey,statistical analysis and other methods,the theoretical value of teaching images of geographic landscapes is discussed,and the existing circumstances of such teaching are summarized.On top of that,the corresponding teaching strategy and case design are studied.This paper mainly includes six parts:The first part is the introduction,background,significance,content,methods.The second part is the research on the theories of teaching geographic landscape images.First of all,based on the literature review,relevant ideas such as landscape,geographic landscape,and image of the geographic landscape are defined.Secondly,based on the teaching practice and educational theories such as “constructivism”,“humanism” and “multiple intelligences”,the functions of geographic landscape images are analyzed and summarized as: basic functions including “describing geographic concepts,demonstrating the evolution of things,and indicating geographic principles”,and educational functions including “developing core literacy,showing sentiments for the country and the people,promoting aesthetic education,and relaxing the body and mind.The third part is the summary of the present application of geographic landscape images through analysis of the relevant content in the current high school geography curriculum standard,the compulsory textbook(I)published by Sinomap Press,and the questions in high school examinations over the past ten years.The fourth part presents the existing problems identified through the questionnaire survey on the present situation of teaching images of geographic landscapes designed on top of the interviews with teachers and students.The fifth part proposes the principles for teaching images of geographic landscapes: the principle of typicality,the principle of serving geography teaching,and the principle of appropriateness.The relevant strategies are also put forward: 1.Schools may develop a supporting library of geographic landscape images;2.Schools should reinforce the management of hardware facilities such as electronic whiteboards;3.Pay more attention to the processing of geographic landscape images;4.Emphasize the integrity of the teaching of geographic landscape images;5.Emphasize the diversity of ways to teach geography landscape images;6.Organize teaching evaluations to an appropriate extent.In the end,based on the principles and strategies,the relevant cases are designed for teaching "Development of River Landforms" in Chapter 4 of the compulsory textbook(I)published by Sinomap Press.The introduction,the body of the class,activities and assignments adopt photos,landscape diagrams,landscape sketches,and text,tables and figures as the teaching aids.The last part is the conclusion,deficiency and prospect. |
