In 2003,the Ministry of Education has printed and distributed the experimental draft regarding the curriculum scheme and standard of general senior high school,which has guided the actual practice of the curriculum reform during the past ten years.In order to select more outstanding talents,the Ministry of Education has also put forward various plans about independent recruitment test and subject competition,which undoubtedly stirred up a craze over “Olympic Competition”.According to the new mathematics course standard and regulation issued by the Ministry of Education in2017,colleges and universities are not supposed to organize independent enrollment examination.In the meanwhile,the pilot reform will be carried out in some colleges and universities in certain basic academic disciplines such as mathematics(literally known in Chinese as “Qiang Ji Ji Hhua” or “Strengthening Foundation Plan.”)Due to this,a large number of parents and students participating in Olympic Competition are confused about what to do.Such problems as how to make a choice between the College Entrance Examination and subject competition as well as how to arrange their time reasonably are in urgent need of being solved.This paper is intended to make an intensive study of the practice and understanding of the mathematics competition under the guidance of the mathematics curriculum standards for senior high school.In the first place,the paper makes an analysis and comparison between the latest developments of both international and domestic Olympic Mathematics Competition so as to explore the latest competition trend,and thus gaining a deeper understanding of the effects of mathematics competition on the students and its benefits.The paper also aims to seek for the common characteristics of students who are suitable for competition by adopting the principles of pedagogy and psychology.In this way,more excellent and outstanding students with perfect potential of mathematics competition will be selected.The mathematics competition is divided into Competitive mathematics competition and Universal mathematics competition according to the target students of maths competition and the content of National Mathematical Olympiad(CMO).It can demonstrate the study of maths competition is favourable and helpful for the study of maths in NEMT.By comparing the teaching program of mathematics competition with high school mathematics curriculum standards,the paper is aimed at probing into the relationship between mathematics competition and maths in NEMT.An obvious conclusion can be drawn from the paper that the essence of mathematics competition is based on maths in NEMT,with the former is superior to the latter in mode of thinking and method.Teaching cases are used to explain how to apply the content of mathematics competition to the senior high school mathematics.It is evident that mathematics competition and maths in NEMT are inextricably linked.Therefore,teachers are supposed to actively explore a teaching program which can strike a good balance between competition and College Entrance Examination.Secondly,I have been a maths teacher in Gao’an Middle school in Jiang Xi Province since 2015,so I will take my daily teaching life and competition coaching and guidance as the 2018 competition coach as examples in the paper.It is stated that the mathematics competition has a tendency towards popularization from diverse perspectives such as mathematics competition,routine teaching and school-based curriculum,all of which reflect the universality of Mathematical Olympiad.This paper sheds light on the author’s practice and understanding of carrying out senior high school mathematics competition under the guidance of general high school mathematics curriculum standard from various aspects,including how to select potential excellent students,how to become an excellent coach on Mathematical Olympiad,how to carry out activities concerning mathematics competition with the mathematics curriculum standard as basis as well as how to cultivate core competence of mathematics discipline and mathematical thinking ability.Apart from these,the paper also draws some conclusions according to my own teaching experience and classroom teaching cases and reflects on the shortcomings.Finally,we can have deeper insight into the the situation of mathematics competition in different schools under the general high school mathematics curriculum standards by conducting the questionnaire with the help of students and coaches in mathematics competition.A conclusion can be drawn from the paper by means of analyzing the collected data.With the promulgation of the Strengthening Foundation Plan,the development of mathematics competition in many schools has a tendency towards being less popular than before.However,the excellent schools with long history of remarkable competition accomplishments still attach great importance and stick to mathematics competition persistently.With the development of the times,mathematics competition is getting more and more attention by the whole society and families,attracting an increasing number of mathematics coaches and person who are keen on mathematics to devote themselves to it.
