Lower limb asymmetries are common in athletes, which may affect and limit athletic performance, and pose a risk of sports injury, and can be improved through sports training interventions. In this paper,we consider the characteristics of unilateral resistance training to meet the requirements of various special training and combine the advantages of high efficiency of compression resistance training to design unilateral compression training as a training intervention to investigate the improvement of lower limb asymmetry in male sprinters and the effect of lower limb asymmetry on 30 m running performance after improvement. The study mainly used literature method, experimental method, mathematical and statistical method, and measurement method,etc.Twenty-four male sprinters specializing in track and field in Wuhan Institute of Physical Education were selected as the experimental subjects. The subjects were divided into unilateral compression group, unilateral resistance group and bilateral resistance group using randomized grouping, with 8 subjects in each group, and unilateral compression, unilateral resistance and bilateral resistance training were conducted for 6 weeks. The subjects’ lower limb asymmetry(lower limb circumference, explosive strength, muscle strength, and balance)and their 30-meter fast running athletic performance were tested before and after the experiment, and the following main conclusions were drawn when comparing the changes in lower limb asymmetry and 30-meter fast running degree of the subjects in the three groups before and after the intervention training.(1)Sprinters have lower limb asymmetry, mainly in lower limb explosive power, muscle strength, and balance ability, and lower limb circumference also has asymmetry, but the degree of asymmetry is low.(2)Through 6 weeks of unilateral compression training, the asymmetry of lower limb explosive strength, knee flexion and extension muscle strength, and balance ability of nondominant side were significantly improved in the sprinters in the unilateral compression group, but the asymmetry of lower limb circumference was not significantly improved.(3)The 6-week unilateral compression training significantly improved the subjects’ 30-meter performance and reduced the waste of energy consumption during sprinting.
