To carry out STEAM education in primary schools or to carry out interdisciplinary teaching in accordance with STEAM education philosophy has become an important trend of basic education reform.Interdisciplinarity is the core feature of STEAM education,which means that all disciplines in primary school can become effective carriers for STEAM education,and all primary school teachers have the possibility to become STEAM teachers.The key to high-quality STEAM education is that primary school teachers have a high level of STEAM literacy.However,there are some problems in the evaluation of STEAM literacy of primary school teachers,such as emphasizing theory over practice,lack of localization and lack of pertinence.In view of the above deficiencies,this study,under the guidance of the principles of purpose,integrity,independence and feasibility,preliminatively constructs a STEAM literacy evaluation system for primary school teachers by summarizing from theoretical basis,refining from policy documents and sorting out from journal papers.Through collecting the evaluation and opinions of experts by Delphi method,the structure and factors of the preliminary literacy evaluation system are adjusted,so as to determine the final composition of the STEAM literacy evaluation system for primary school teachers.The weight distribution of the evaluation system is determined by the analytic hierarchy process to improve the scientificity and operability of the evaluation system.Based on the evaluation system,the STEAM Literacy Status Questionnaire of Primary school teachers was compiled,and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were tested through pre-investigation,in order to realize the scientific application of the evaluation system.In order to test the application effect of STEAM literacy evaluation system for primary school teachers,this study selected primary school teachers in G City as an example to conduct evaluation research.The results show that the level of STEAM literacy of primary school teachers in G City varies greatly among individuals,and is at a general level in the dimensions of STEAM discipline foundation and STEAM educational value understanding.The results of correlation analysis show that there is a positive correlation between the six dimensions and STEAM literacy.The results of difference analysis showed that STEAM literacy level of primary school teachers of different genders did not show significant differences,but there were significant differences in academic qualifications,disciplines and professional titles.Further investigation results show that the STEAM literacy development of primary school teachers in G City has some problems,such as inaccurate understanding of STEAM education,fear of STEAM education,and insufficient STEAM teaching ability.In this regard,this study puts forward suggestions on building a localized STEAM education system and enriching teachers’ STEAM literacy improvement funds.However,due to the influence of researchers’ theoretical basis and research methods,future research can also expand the integration of multiple subjects,further expand the application scope of the evaluation system,and deeply explore the impact of STEAM literacy development of primary school teachers.
