The second classroom,as an activity for teachers to guide students to learn and practice independently,is a diverse form of activity that schools carry out outside the classroom based on the cultivation goals of quality education.It plays a very important role in promoting students’ healthy and comprehensive development.The "Curriculum Standards for Moral and Rule of Law in Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)" for the first time condensed the five core competencies that moral and rule of law courses focus on cultivating: political identity,moral cultivation,rule of law concepts,sound personality,and sense of responsibility.At the same time,it advocates the development of students’ core competencies through practical exploration and experiential activities.The second classroom,as a new approach to practical education,has unique value in helping students cultivate essential character traits,strengthen social responsibility,enhance rule awareness,and enhance moral understanding and judgment.Therefore,studying the cultivation of core literacy for middle school students in moral and legal courses based on the second classroom is of great significance.The main text is as follows:In order to deeply implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents,and to implement the requirements of the "double reduction" work and the "five management" for primary and secondary school students,more and more schools are realizing the importance of the development of the second classroom for students to cultivate excellent character and key abilities.They continuously explore and innovate,focus on core competencies,and carry out various forms of the second classroom.However,there are still shortcomings in the practical operation of the second classroom of morality and the rule of law.Based on this,this article clarifies the conceptual connotations of "the second classroom","core literacy",and "core literacy of morality and the rule of law courses" based on the research results of relevant scholars;Introduced the theoretical basis for cultivating students’ core competencies in middle school moral and legal courses based on the second classroom;Analyzed the necessity and feasibility of cultivating students’ core literacy in middle school moral and legal courses based on the second classroom.On the basis of grasping relevant concepts,a survey was conducted on the current situation of cultivating core competencies of students in middle school moral and legal courses in the second classroom from the perspectives of teachers and students.The following problems were found: the lack of dual subjectivity between teachers and students hinders the achievement of literacy cultivation goals;The second classroom becomes mere formality,resulting in poor effectiveness in cultivating core competencies;Neglecting students’ subjectivity and lacking effective emotional experience processes;The second classroom has a single form and is detached from the practical position of cultivating core competencies.Through comprehensive analysis,it is further pointed out that the main reasons for the related problems are the lack of professional literacy among teachers,the influence of internal factors among students,insufficient support from schools,and the lack of an evaluation system.To address the above issues,an optimization strategy for cultivating students’ core competencies in middle school moral and legal courses based on the second classroom has been proposed.One is to correct the attitude of the second classroom subject and promote the rooting of core competencies;Secondly,carefully design the second classroom plan to identify the direction of cultivating core competencies;The third is to attach importance to the second classroom process and permeate the cultivation of core competencies layer by layer;Fourthly,optimize the evaluation of the second classroom,guide the evaluation to help elevate core competencies;The fifth is to provide a second classroom guarantee and consolidate the material foundation for cultivating core competencies.Based on the exploration of the design of each link in the second classroom,a process for cultivating the core competencies of responsibility awareness in middle school moral and legal courses based on the second classroom is designed,providing reference for implementing the cultivation of core competencies of responsibility awareness in the second classroom.
