| In order to improve the "cold" problem of the number of physics and chemistry subjects selected during the new college entrance examination reform process,Zhejiang has promulgated a "physics and chemistry binding tendency" policy for selecting subjects, which means that students’ autonomous choice rights in selecting subjects have been greatly reduced. However, whether institutional adjustment can reverse the phenomenon of "test subject of physics and chemistry becoming cold" and solve the underlying causes of this problem lacks empirical support. Therefore, exploring the impact of this policy on students’ subject selection and the underlying reasons for "materialization being cold" can find a balance and provide data support for the new college entrance examination reform in Zhejiang Province in terms of students’ autonomy in subject selection and discipline constraints,as well as provide guidance for students to conduct feasible subject selection, explore the underlying reasons for "materialization being cold",and provide improvement suggestions for materialization teaching from the teaching perspective.Based on relevant literature, this study constructed a hypothesis model of the role of selective factors and designed a questionnaire to investigate senior two students in a high school in Zhejiang Province.Based on the results of questionnaire data analysis,an interview outline was designed and semi structured interviews were conducted with four senior two students.Through a survey of the selection and intention of 2024 college entrance examination students in Zhejiang Province, the following two research questions are explored:Question 1: What is the impact of the 2024 "physics and chemistry binding examination selection policy" on students’ subject selection in the new college entrance examination in Zhejiang Province?Question 2: What are the reasons why students are unwilling to choose "physics" or "chemistry" ?The results of this study indicate that:(1)The degree of students’ understanding of the "materialization binding tendency" policy of the 2024 Zhejiang college entrance examination significantly affects students’ subject choices.Under the "materialization binding" requirement, students have a tendency to choose materialization and give up the examination.(2)According to the weighted calculation of comprehensive scores and rankings, the main reasons why students are unwilling to participate in the physics exam, from strong to weak, are as follows: "Physics subject content is abstract and difficult to understand","test questions are difficult","lack of interest in the subject","teachers’ teaching style is cumbersome",and "mechanical exercises".The main reasons why students are unwilling to take chemistry exams, from strong to weak, are "considering scoring pressure","chemistry scores are not ideal","other subjects have more advantages",and "no career expectations related to chemistry".(3)Among the students’ own factors, academic achievement, academic interest, and academic self-efficacy have a positive impact on students’ choice of physics and chemistry. The three self factors interact with each other.External factors such as subject difficulty, school resources, and policy requirements indirectly affect students’ choices for physics and chemistry exams in various ways through their own factors.Based on the above conclusions, this study proposes corresponding suggestions from the following four levels:(1)In policy, new disciplines should be created to eliminate discipline boundaries and optimize the mechanism for selecting professional talents in universities.(2)At the student level,it is necessary to strengthen self cognition and explore interests and specialties.Strengthen the awareness of career planning and actively learn about the information of course selection.(3)Teachers should change the concept of educating people and cultivate students’ innovative ability.Enrich teaching forms and improve students’ interest in subjects and self-efficacy.(4)Schools should strengthen the construction of experimental courses and improve experimental equipment.Carry out career education and establish a guidance system for selecting subjects. |
