For many years Quality Training has been associated with good schools, the availability of resources, the availability of qualified teachers and the school environment.Very little has been discussed about the role of leaders in ensuring quality training specifically in TEVET.The TEVET sector in Malawi is facing all sorts of challenges one among them is the quality of the graduate as continuously raised by industry.Hence this research topic is to analyze the role of leaders in ensuring quality training in TEVET institutions in Malawi. The literature review has indicated that apart from these factors, college leadership contributes highly to quality training. In Malawi,no college train college leaders or technical teachers. The study aimed to find out the roles of principals in ensuring quality training in TEVET in achieving this aim the study was guided by these specific objectives: to assess college leaders’ level of involvement in ensuring quality TEVET,analyse factors affecting leadership roles in TEVET and explore the possible solutions/strategies leaders can use to achieve quality training in TEVET colleges. This study was conducted in Malawi in four Technical Colleges and the Ministry of Labour(Department of Technical and Vocational Training). The study was made a crosssectional study and followed a qualitative approach.A total of 13 participants responded to the questionnaire sent through email.Data was analysed thematically and content analysis.Ethically, the researcher sought clearance from ECNU and the Ministry of Labour to conduct the research. It was found that lack of knowledge and skills in quality assurance of principals and availability of resources influence quality training;in addition, qualified and motivated teachers also contribute to quality training. These affect leaders` role in ensuring quality training. However, leaders should provide overall direction for the college towards the improvement of quality training. In this study,it is recommended that leaders be provided with further studies on quality assurance and policy implementation and increase funding allocation in TEVET institutions. The study recommends further research to cover all three levels of technical colleges.A National Technical Teacher Strategy should be developed so that the quality of teachers can be improved.
