For a long time, with the support of national policy documents,my country’s social work has developed rapidly. However, the high turnover rate of social workers and the imbalance of the gender ratio of the practitioners have made the construction of the entire social work talent team in an unstable stage. In the existing research on the construction of the social work talent team, few male social workers are regarded as independent research objects, and there are relatively few researches specifically on the occupational pressure of male social workers. The occupational pressure faced by male social workers will directly affect their career choices and further affect the overall development of the social work industry. Therefore, studying their occupational pressure is of great significance to the healthy and sustainable development of the industry. This research adopts qualitative research methods, and selects 10 first-line male social workers from Nanjing institutions as the research objects to conduct in-depth interviews. From the perspective of gender roles, try to solve the problems of "what","why" and "how to do" the professional pressure of male social workers.Research has found that the professional pressure faced by male social workers in the organization usually comes from the three fields of individual, family, and occupation/organization,which is universal and multifaceted.Men’s social labor unions generate internal pressure due to their low occupational social status, their own lack of professional identity, and the lack of interpersonal links caused by busy work. The low income, difficulties in marriage and the lack of family responsibilities have caused male social workers to be pressured by their families for the second time.In the professional field, male social workers also face pressure from work, promotion, and a professional environment that is unbalanced between men and women. From a gender role and gender stereotype perspective, men are expected to play male roles well and develop masculinity, and when these expectations are not met, individuals are left out of balance and feel stressed. Finally, the author attempts to explore feasible strategies for relieving male social workers’ occupational stress—that is,considering the internal and external environment of the individual, the author proposes two strategies to strengthen the subject’s cognition and improve the social support network.By strengthening positive incentives for male social workers, helping them improve their professional abilities and literacy, and guiding them to play their own advantages,so that they can establish a positive attitude, adhere to professional beliefs and enhance professional identity;by enhancing male social workers’ family communication, improve the corresponding salary system and extensive social worker advocacy to help male social workers gain support from their families, smooth their promotion channels, and create a good atmosphere for them.
