The emergence of children with autism poses a heavy burden on families,affecting the quality of life of family members from economic,physical,and psychological aspects.Families of children with autism face numerous needs,but the level of social support is not optimistic.Currently,families with autism face many difficulties,such as alleviating psychological stress,increasing social support networks,and preventing marginalization of families and society.Social work,as a professional self-help discipline,has professional advantages in solving family problems with autism.Social work not only considers the current difficulties faced by families,but also considers their future development.Social workers also play different roles in the informal and formal support fields of families with autism.The psychological support of families with autism is a research focus in social work practice.This not only requires applying research theories related to family and social relationships to provide support services for families of autistic children,but also requires studying the actual needs of autistic children and their family members from a psychological perspective.The focus of this practical work is to establish a support group,aiming to provide a space for emotional communication and information sharing for families of autistic patients,while also training parents on how to communicate with autistic children.In addition,by providing emotional support and addressing practical family difficulties for children with autism,we can alleviate parents’ negative emotions,alleviate their anxiety,and provide technical support and assistance.The object of this article is ten groups of families of autistic children at K Rehabilitation Center in Zhengzhou City.During the intervention process,unofficial social support services play an important role.Social workers need to accompany and assist research subjects in team collaboration while promptly contacting professional resources.Establishing a family social work service network for children with autism requires following the practical goals of social work,detailing the needs of children and family members at different levels,and fully utilizing the "empowerment theory" and "social support theory" to analyze the psychological needs and pain points of children with autism and their families.Selectively guide service recipients,strengthen their impression,explore practical work on social work intervention in families with autism,improve their social support status,and share the effectiveness and shortcomings of social work interventions.
