Dilemma Analysis Of The Families Of Autistic And Social Work Intervention Strategies

Autism is a serious mental development disorder.Most autistic patients can not communicate with others and live independently.Therefore,family members of autistic patients often need to take care of them for life,and their families are also facing many difficulties and suffering.With the development of society,the incidence and diagnostic rate of autistic patients are getting higher and higher,showing an upward trend.These groups and their families need urgent attention.The author had internship in Y rehabilitation institution of L city.In the process of practice,I deeply felt the difficulty of families of autistic.As a student of social work specialty,I had the idea of providing help through social work intervention.If local social workers can effectively engage in professional activities,they can effectively help these families link resources,build support networks and rebuild their confidence in life.Therefore,under the guidance of social support theory,the author adopts participatory observation,in-depth interviews and scale measurement,and uses purposeful sampling in non-probabilistic sampling.Ten representative and typical families of autistic in Y institution are selected as the subjects of in-depth interviews,and the tapes of interviews are transcribed.At the same time,the respondents are asked to fill in the burden,anxiety of caregivers,depression related psychometric scales,through the perspective of social work theory to collate and analyze the data,hope to truly present the families of autistic's living conditions,summarize the difficulties they face,and explore how to provide them with effective social work intervention.The study found that families of autistic are mainly facing five kinds of predicaments:difficult rehabilitation treatment,tremendous pressure of care,heavy financial burden,negative emotional distress and insufficient social support.Based on interviews and three psychological scales,the author analyzed and summarized the factors involved in each predicament in detail.On the basis of predicament analysis,the author also made a tentative exploration of social work intervention in families of autistic.Firstly,it analyses the possible conditions for social work services to intervene in families of autistic:the development of localization of social work,the support of policies issued by the government,the support of scientific methods of social work,the support of professional values of social work and the requirements of professional goals of social work.Secondly,under the guidance of social support theory,it tries to study the three basic aspects of social work:from the perspectives of case social work,group social work and community social work,some ideas of social work intervention in families of autistic were put forward.Then,specific societies on formal and informal support were put forward from the perspectives of five predicaments:difficult rehabilitation treatment,great care pressure,heavy financial burden,negative emotional distress and insufficient social support.We need build a multi-social support system for families of autistic who are led by government,community,caring enterprises,third departments,special schools,medical institutions,families,neighbors,volunteer resources and social workers.Finally,the limitations of social work intervention in families of autistic are analyzed:the relevant intervention policies are not sound,the development of social work in small and medium-sized cities is low,and the families of autistic have insufficient understanding of social work specialty.Through this study,the author hopes to promote the development of social work intervention in families of autistic,link resources for families of autistic in many aspects,establish a perfect social support network,help families of autistic get out of difficulties,re-establish confidence in future life,promote better rehabilitation of families of autistic,achieve long-term self-help.
