Research On The Mechanism Of Enterprise’s Emergency Donation Behavior Under Major Disasters

Over a long period of time,Chinese philanthropy has developed greatly.The philanthropic strength with enterprises as the main body plays a positive role in helping the needy,charity,environmental protection,etc.At present,China is facing extremely challenging social problems such as sudden natural disasters and ups and downs of the epidemic.The unique advantages of enterprises in capital,service and management make them have great potential in dealing with these public crises.As a special charitable donation behavior under disaster events,enterprise emergency donation can effectively improve the social risk management ability and improve the resilience of people’s livelihood security system after disaster,and its importance has been fully reflected in practice.After reviewing the existing literature,the existing research has made some achievements,but it is still difficult to systematically reveal the behavior mechanism of enterprise emergency donation under major sudden disaster events.Therefore,based on the practice of enterprises,this paper studies the behavior mechanism of enterprise emergency donation under major sudden disaster events.In this paper,the July 20 torrential rain in Henan Province is taken as the event window of the research,typical enterprise emergency donation behavior practices are selected,and the mechanism model of enterprise emergency donation behavior is constructed by using the grounded theory method.In this process,this paper closely focuses on the research topic,obtains data through in-depth interviews,data collection and other channels,uses Nvivo12.0 qualitative research tool,and adopts the research paradigm of programmatic grounded theory to encode and process the practical data of enterprise emergency donation behavior.A total of 228 labels,50 concepts,16 main categories and 4 core categories are obtained.Finally,a conceptual model with "antecedent-process-outcome" as the research logic is constructed,and the model is elaborated and further discussed.The research results show that:(1)enterprises continue to use the mode of charitable donation under the general situation may lead to inefficient or even ineffective failure predicament.Enterprises’ emergency donation behavior needs a certain degree of transformation,that is,the transformation from "relief" to "emergency relief",and the transformation from result-oriented to process-oriented mode.(2)Under major sudden disaster events,the emergency donation behavior of sample enterprises is more the practice of the concept of "emergency relief",the empathic behavior based on the same disaster situation,and the natural continuation of traditional charitable activities.(3)Enterprise’s participation in emergency donation is influenced by both advantages and constraints.Meanwhile,the intensity,time and space attributes of major sudden disaster events constitute a specific complex dynamic situation,resulting in the dynamic evolution of enterprise’s emergency donation behavior.Therefore,it is necessary to make adaptive adjustments according to the on-the-ground disaster relief situation.(4)Under major sudden disaster events,the enterprise emergency donation behavior has broadened the depth and breadth of social emergency relief in an all-round way,and the disaster relief effect has been significantly improved,creating huge value at the social and enterprise levels.
