Extracurricular homework,as an extension and extension of classroom teaching,is an indispensable and important component of the complete teaching process.By analyzing the completion status of students’ extracurricular homework,teachers can understand their level of mastery of knowledge,test teaching effectiveness,and adjust teaching progress.At present,the most prominent educational problem in the compulsory education stage is the heavy workload on students’ homework,which seriously affects their healthy development.In order to deeply implement the spirit of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,effectively improve the level of education in schools,and effectively reduce the heavy homework burden on students in compulsory education,in July 2021,the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Further Reducing the homework burden and off campus training burden on students in compulsory education"(hereinafter referred to as "Double Reduction"),One of the tasks of "double reduction" is to reduce students’ unreasonable homework burden.Based on the spirit of "double reduction" and taking extracurricular homework as the starting point,this study conducted a questionnaire survey on 357 teachers,1081 students,and 1119 parents from four junior high schools in X City,Henan Province,as well as interviews with school leaders to understand the current situation and problems of extracurricular homework among junior high school students in this city.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,which includes the research background and significance,current research status at home and abroad,definition of core concepts,research ideas and methods,theoretical basis,research innovation points and shortcomings.Chapter 2 is a survey on the current situation of extracurricular homework for junior high school students,including survey overview,survey design and implementation,survey results and analysis.Through a questionnaire survey and interviews with school leaders,statistics and analysis of data were conducted to understand the current situation of extracurricular homework for junior high school students in Xinxiang City.Chapter 3 is an analysis of the problems and causes of extracurricular homework for junior high school students.The survey found that there are problems with current junior high school students’ extracurricular homework,such as students’ completion time exceeding the national regulations,unreasonable type and structure of extracurricular homework,lack of hierarchical design of extracurricular homework,neglect of children’s emotional experience during the homework process,and improper correction of extracurricular homework subjects.Based on these issues,identify the causes of the problems from four aspects: school,teachers,parents,and students.Chapter 4 proposes the following optimization strategies from the four levels of school,teachers,parents,and students: schools should improve homework management systems and provide homework design training for teachers;Teachers should improve the quality of homework design and strengthen the management of homework correction;As parents,we should spend more time with our children and cultivate good learning habits;Students should improve their self-management skills and make good use of their after-school service time in school.
