| Scientific research ability is not only the core ability that academic postgraduates should have, but also one of the most important indicators to measure the quality of postgraduate education.Learning research methods is crucial for postgraduates to improve their research ability. This study adopts both quantitative and qualitative methods, taking the domestic Master’s degree program of pedagogic majors as its sampling population. It aims to have knowledge of the offering of methodological courses for postgraduates majoring in pedagogy, look into their learning experience in these courses and their achievements in scientific research, and explore the influence of learning experience in these courses on research cognition, document collection and processing ability, analysis and problem-solving ability and research interest of master of education students in scientific research achievements. It shows that the overall level of pedagogy major postgraduates’ learning experience and achievements in scientific research is between "average" and "relatively high".When students’ background characteristics are controlled, whether they take methodological courses or not has just minor influence on their achievements in scientific research.Specifically, taking courses of quantitative research methods significantly and positively predicts students’ cognition for scientific research, whereas taking courses of thesis-writing instruction gets the opposite results. In addition, taking courses like methodological introduction significantly but negatively predicts students’ interest in scientific research. In comparison, the teaching and learning quality of methodological courses has more conspicuous impacts on academic achievements of postgraduates majoring in pedagogy. The clear teaching of research process significantly and positively affects four dimensions of students’ academic achievements. What’s more, teachers’ clear interpretation of relevant literature plays a remarkably positive role in students’ academic cognition and their document collection and processing ability, and inquiry methods utilized in the teaching process can get the same effect. The difficulty of these courses has significantly negative impact on other three dimensions of students’ academic achievements except their research cognition. Moreover, students’ learning engagements in these courses also have a significantly positive impact on the four dimensions of their academic achievements.Above all,it is suggested that educational institutions should combine existing experience and their actual conditions to strengthen the system of methodological courses for scientific research and improve curriculum organizing forms. It is also necessary to pay more attention to the construction of methodology curriculum teachers and encourage teachers refresh their teaching techniques and adopt inquiry teaching methods. In addition, using information technology to improve the learning efficiency of method courses. Finally, improving the learning quality of method courses and raise students’ interest in scientific research is of great importance. |
