| Spatial ability is the basic ability that contemporary citizens should possess for survival and development,and it is the basic element for cultivating students’ practical ability and innovative spirit.Geography is a discipline that studies the environment and the relationship between human and the living environment,which characteristic is regional and comprehensive.And it plays an irreplaceable role in cultivating students’ spatial ability.Geography spatial ability has a great effect on students’ solving geographical problems,improving their geographical performance and future quality of life.Therefore,the cultivation of geography spatial capability is significant.This paper aims to evaluate the current situation of geography spatial capability of senior three students in Leshan city through a various of methods such as literature method,questionnaire survey method,and statistical analysis method,and to propose corresponding improvement strategies.First of all,on the basis of collating and analyzing a large number of domestic and foreign documents,this paper defines the definitions of space,geography spatial and geography spatial capability and the composition of geography spatial capability,and sorts out the research progress of geography spatial capability at home and abroad,as well as domestic and foreign research progress.The requirements of the curriculum standards for the training of geography spatial ability.On this basis,according to the relevant theories of psychology and geography course teaching,the geography spatial ability level test papers for high school students and the geography spatial ability training questionnaires for high school students were compiled,distributed through the network platform,and 432 student test papers and 38 teacher questionnaires were collected..Combining the data obtained with the results of interviews with individual students,the analysis draws the following conclusions:(1))currently,geography spatial ability of senior three students in Leshan are low,especially geography spatial imagination capability and geography spatial analysis capability.(2)There are obvious gender differences in the level of geography spatial ability of senior three students in Leshan.The general rule is that boys are higher than girls to a certain extent.The reasons for this difference are: teaching methods and traditional concepts,memory methods,learning methods and thinking habits,and psychological factors.(3)The factors that affect the training of senior three students’ geography spatial ability in Leshan are: the lack of guidance of geography curriculum standards,the lack of attention to the use of intuitive means in teaching,the unclearness of related concepts,the inadequate demonstration and guidance of teachers,and the lake of basic knowledge.Based on this,improvement strategies of geography spatial ability of senior three students in Leshan are put forward from four aspects: the selection of teaching content,the presentation of teaching content,the use of teaching methods and the evaluation of learning results.Finally,combined with the research,a teaching case of "Australia" was designed and its effect is evaluated.It is hoped that this research can enrich the teaching theory of geography curriculum and provide theoretical guidance and practical reference for the teaching of senior high school geography teachers,the training of high school students’ spatial concepts and the development of spatial ability. |
